I think a lot of cities are going to be in a lot worse shape than Detroit when the plug is pulled.

I have seen pictures of Havana Cuba...they remind me of the photos I saw recently of downtown Detroit.

:: 47 percent of all people living in the city of Detroit are functionally illiterate. ::
That’s because being able to read and write is considered “acting white” in the hood.

# 21. A car company that has taken taxpayer money and has failed with joint ventures with Mitsubishi and Mercedes Benz and will soon fail with Fiat can still fail ever harder with its current marketing slogan:
(OK, I honestly don't know what anyone can learn from this, but the FAIL is just so strong, it deserves a mention.)

The problem with “benefits” is that they suck the life out of a community...because there is never enough benefits to be taxed from producers to pay basic civic infrastructure-which producers need to produce...and to also support a population of loafers.
As infrastructure crumbles, inevitably...the producers then dry up and go away. And Pottersville has arrived.

#21. Unions do not benefit anyone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I failed to see in these 20 points any indication that Organized Labor has had a direct impact on the colossal failure that is Detroit.
We can not have a serious discussion of the failure of Detroit without mentioning how Unions have contributed to their demise.
An overly pessimistic piece posted on a website called "the economic collapse blog."
There is nothing new going on in America today that we haven't seen before.
Even if it comes down to shooting rioters dead in the streets, America will prevail.
Mt. Clemens has come a long way in Macomb County since the ‘80’s but if they close Selfridge Air National Guard Base over there it’ll have a negative impact on several neighboring communities.
Correct.
I did a word search of those 20 points in this article. Not one single time did the article mention the word democrat or liberal.
Hellooo!!!! Anybody home here???
I’m sure that are a hundred or more reasons why Detroit failed. But if someone ain’t even going to cover the basics, then what are they wasting our time for??
Benito Obamalini would have focused on trying to help Detroit, but fixing a non-existent issue of access to birth control took precedence. Hopey Changey!
If you do live in a place like Detroit, all is not lost.
1. Keep your nose clean.
2. Learn to do something useful.
3. Find out where there is a market for the thing you can do.
4. Move there and go to work.
Detroit was headed down this path for a very long time.
When I read the ‘Protestant Ethic Thesis’ one author commented:
“Capitalism is a shell secreated by the religious organism. When that organism dies, it will be interesting to see what OTHER creature can crawl into the shell to make a home.”
Detroit is what it is because secularist Liberalism has wrung the life out of it ... what remains is fit for no one else. That’s just my take on it.
