Obama and the Dems are very good at doing what we *never* do when we’re in power — punish enemies.

I’m retired military. PayPal is NOT the vehicle for receiving military pay; comes through DFAS - Defense Finance and Accounting System. I believe his assertions need a second look.

insanity

This man has got to be the most anti-American President ever. More benefits for the shiftless while he shafts hard working taxpayers and soldiers.

Great! Now let him stop paying the members of Congress their Member’s Representational Allowance for the days they are not actually (under fire) in their home districts! That ain’t gonna happen.

“The 2011 allowances range from $1,356,975 to $1,671,596, with an average MRA of $1,446,009.”

Obama, you sorry scumbag.

While in Vietnam we counted on that $2.20 per day for getting shot at. Now our troops get the magnificent sum of $7.50 per day! Obviously, this is the cause of the trillions of dollars of debt the country is in!

This isn’t exactly correct; the change started on 01FEB2012 so IDP is now pro-rated. Areas eligible for IDP are (as they always have been) defined by lat/long or by entire countries. The issue in the past was that a person only had to spend part of one day in an area to collect pay for the entire month; many rear echelon staffers would hop a flight that skirted an area and get the bonus for an entire 30 days. It’s not accurate implying ‘one has to be shot at’ to get the pay.

I'm certainly not a fan of our current president.

Read the military.com article, and don't rely on the rants of patdollard.com.

As a veteran, I find the conditions to receive hazard pay reasonable.

I agree with this policy 100%! And the best way to make sure it works is to send a civilian government employee along on every patrol to see if any shots are fired. They would have to be up front because they’d have to check the bullets from both sides. Wouldn’t want to miss out on counting those bullets. They seem to want to count days.

I thought the DEMs said, people join the Military because they're poor?
So now the DEMs will make sure they stay poor and cannot take care of their children?

Where the hell is Boehner on this, he controls the purse strings@!

Not too long ago the skinny said that the wounded troops should pay for their own health insurance b/c he thought it was the patriotic thing to do.

This comes as no surprise.

Ask my daughter how messed up this decision will turn out to be. She just came off a unit that “doesn’t deploy”. She sure felt deployed when she was getting fired on in the ME. Now that unit will not get hazard pay because they “don’t deploy” according to Washington. This decision is also tied to tax-free status when in certain areas. I’m not sure how that will work now.

...Florida Marine Corp Soldier (We are not posting his name for obvious reasons)

1. It's Marine Corps. (That's where the term "Corpseman" comes from. Just ask Obama.)

2. A Marine would never call himself a soldier.

After having researched this, I must say I don’t have much of a problem with taxpayers only paying soldiers for time spent in an Imminent Danger area as opposed to paying for an entire month of IDP when time in the area is only one day. I do have questions regarding how and where ID areas are determined.
