I mostly shoot the aurora borealis/Northern lights in the winter season. In the summer I really enjoy the midnight sun and the incredible light you get. I take all kind of pictures but my sweet spot is landscapes that includes the ocean.

I do bracketed shots if it benefits the image.

But I really love the Lee filters. Expensive YES but it saves you a lots of time in post processing.

And the images you get with the Lee 10 stop ND, the big stopper is just amazing.

Wow! That's a beautiful view!

That video from the ISS makes me think about God in all His Glory knowing all along that we would someday see the view of our planet from a different vantage point. I hope that He is smiling during all of our discoveries of His Gifts.

Yes! There’s been a HUGH spike in solar activity of late.

I’ve never seen the aurora in person. I think I could watch that for hours, or at least until I froze my ass off.

We are leaving the Maunder minimum and entering a new sun spot cycle.

We are seeing increased solar activity which results in more solar winds and more Aurora.

The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) captured this video of the M3.2 solar flare on January 19, 2012. The graph at the top indicates corresponding X-ray measurements taken by the GOES-15 satellite. Credit: NASA/SDO/GOES-15

A long duration M-class flare began erupting on the sun at 8:42 AM ET on Thursday, January 19. The flare is shown in the above movie from the Solar Dynamics Observatory in a combination of light wavelengths. An earth-directed coronal mass ejection was associated with the solar flare. NASA’s Space Weather Services estimates that it is traveling at over 630 miles per second and will reach Earth some time on Saturday, January 21, when strong geomagnetic storms are possible and viewers can be on the look out for increased aurora.

Been 40 years sice we lived in rural Alaska, but remember them like it was yesterday. On a cold still winter night, it was wondrous to see the multicolored curtains fluxuwating (yeah I know, no such word) and changing color across the starlit sky. I swear there were times when we thought could hear it crackling.

I saw the aurora once a very long time ago in northern Pennsylvania. The whole family stood in the back yard watching. Very memorable.
