Blame For School Closing Belongs To Catholics

The Philadelphia Archdiocese announced, yesterday, that the 49 of its schools will be shut forever come June.

(snip)

Who is to blame? A lot, maybe most, of the parents who send their kids to these Catholic schools are died-in-the wool Democrats who'd rather have a toenail ripped out than vote Republican, as are a lot, maybe most, of the teachers at these places. They cannot even begin to get their minds around the fact that their party is the puppet of the PSEA, the union that represents most Pennsylvania public school teachers (and nurses and librarians etc.) and that fights like a rabid badger for every penny of the education budget regardless of who it hurts.

It certainly is ironic.

A large proportion of the people who send their kids to Catholic schools are not even Catholic here in NYC. What was once the premier educational environment in this country is no longer even worth attending especially since a large part of their teachers are little better than public school teachers. Catholic schools were great when they were taught by nuns and brothers.

Lemme get this straight.

Catholics in Philly changed the Ten Commandments to allow the murder of babies? Or are there now only Nine Commandments?

Same sort of thing in Washington DC, where all the big democrats send their kids to private schools and force the rest of us to attend government schools.

Philly Catholics = Democrats.

I am sure that there is some truth to this, but WAY too broad of a brush is being used.

Besides, there's a new "Sheriff" in town, and Archbishop Chaput is the Real Deal!

"catholics" can be blamed for a number of things, including Obama.

"Catholics" are the bane of Catholics.

Catholic schools are private industry education. In an era where more and more government activities are turned over to private industry for savings, Catholic education should be among them. Part of the money used for public education should be transferred to private industry to reduce the taxpayer load.

Further it makes no sense that religious affiliated colleges can receive government money but not grammar or high schools. I went to Lutheran College under the GI bill and there was no stink about separation of church and state.

That’s the point. The liberal government won’t allow vouchers and it was Catholics in Philadelphia who keep voting for Democrats!

My bet is - ANYONE could run a school system better than the government and their union allies.

Ten random names in the phone book.

I AM practicing Catholic.
As long as we continue to operate with our heads in our Butts we have only ourselves to blame.
I have always resented the very thought that Catholics Have to pay twice for their children’s education and not use the public schools education at all. They pay once in their real estate taxes and once more to their church.
We should have taken a page from the Homosexual agenda and HARRASSED THE GOVERNMENT, until we only payed once and if our kids were in catholic school, we didn’t have to pay Taxes for public education.

Tom Ridge got elected governor promising education vouchers but was immediately rolled by the legislature. He abandoned one of his main campaign planks with hardly a fight. Lost all respect for him after that, and nobody in PA has suggested trying it again. That should tell us something.

Oh,OK :-)

But you know the kind I mean. They are nice people. They are hard working. The attend Mass weekly.

But they insist on voting Democrat and now it should be as clear as anything that the people they trusted to look out for them are hurting them and laughing at them while they are doing it.

BTW, the schools that are being closed are in generally blue collar areas. Most of the ones serving Republican Catholics are being kept.

Agreed and that should go for all private schools, any faith. Why do we have to pay double and of course they will raise the taxes because of all the new kids coming in.

died-in-the wool Democrats

While I believe most Democrats have died in the brain, I think the cliche he's looking for here is DYED-in-the-wool.
