A vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for GOP destruction and the rise of a third party. Who can unite conservatives?
(Video commentary)

In Florida, Gingrich is in the lead already, close to 40%. Romney has a ceiling near 30%. Paul is unlikely to draw more than 10% to 15% tops in Florida.
With all the other candidates out of the race, with the possible exception of Perry, Gingrich is likely to take very close to 50% of the vote, and immediately put him in the lead in terms of the delegate count, which is the only count that counts.
After Florida, there will only be three candidates left: Romney, Gingrich and Paul. Gingrich gets close to 60% in most of the remaining states. Case closed.
The key to realizing who will win and who will lose the nomination is that once you conclude that Romney has a ceiling of probably somewhere near 30% of the Republican vote, it's just a matter for the rest of the field to whittle down to the candidate who is most acceptable in most of the states. And that clearly is Gingrich, who has an established national track record.

Damn right it will. If Romney gets the nomination, I am out of the party and so are most pubbies I know. I am SICK OF RINOS.
FUMR!
Ron Paul is not better than Romney. Mitt is not a conservative, Paul is a nut with a foreign and defense policy to the left of Obama.
Further, no 3rd party candidate has the slightest prayer in 2012. It’s just not going to happen.
The only way to stop Romney from being the nominee is to vote for someone else in the primaries. Personally, I think Newt is the best option in the current field.
I’m not in any way a Romney fan, but this election is a first step to defeat the rise of socialism in this country, and Romney is exponentially better than Obama. Obama represents a hateful ‘get even’ mentality that has no understanding, or willingness to understand, the realities that have led to the social ills that we have in our country. No matter what, we should not hand him reelection. We can argue here 24 hours a day about who has a better chance of defeating Obama in the general election, but ultimately we will have a candidate, and it is in all or our united best interests to rally behind (or at least vote for) that candidate. I’d prefer it not be Romney, but I’m not going to hand Obama the election if it is.
Romney is the only R who can win , as much as it pains me to say it .
We already have schisms out the wazoo!
First, he is a dog abuser.
Second, he is a deceptive fascist who put in RomneyCARE.
Third, he is not eligible.
Which state would Romney win over Newt? Answer: NONE Newt will be the nominee and will likely be sewn up in March of 2012. Look at all the Red Southern States voting in March.

Nice work! I agree with all and California goes for Newt, too. :)
I prefer Newt to Mitt and Paul is dangerous but all are better than theKenyan. Hold your nose and vote.
Don’t be a quitter, dude. Fight on for your country! Obama-lite (R) is worse than Obama (D). We would lose the entire congress badly for sure in 2014, imho with a President Willard Flopney calling the shots.
“A vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for GOP destruction and the rise of a third party.”
I agree 100%. The GOP needs to be abandoned if Romney is the best they can offer.
If Romney is it the meltdown and purge here at FR is going to be epic.
Newt is likely to win many states and has a strong chance to be the Conservative nominee. Go NEWT !

Free Republic is an Anti-Romney Conservative Website. Romney supporters will never be welcome on Free Republic.
It sounds like you have been sufficiently convinced by Fox News, subliminally perhaps - but know it or not, you are propounding the talking points with which the Fox would-be king makers have been inculcating us around the clock for the past few weeks.
They are stepping it up just like last presidential election, which is what gave us McCain as conservatives could not unite around a candidate.
All day long as Fox News anchors and hosts cite Obama’s polling data, they consistently use Romney as the default candidate or bellwether - even when Romney was polling in the low 20% range. There is nothing subtle about their being in the tank for Romney and it is the same type of strategic manipulation in which the leftist media engages when they try to shape the opinions of unsuspecting viewers.
Sure, I will acknowledge that Romney is saying all the right things - just as he ALWAYS DOES when running in an election. He is so passionate in his rhetoric whether he’s a liberal running against Ted Kennedy or a pseudo-conservative as he has become the past few years.
He speaks says it all so well and his hair is so well groomed he’s practically irresistible. However, looking at his LEGISLATIVE RECORD - on important fiscal and social issues like abortion and gay “marriage” - he’s a traitor of the most odious kind and I will simply not get punked again.
That’s it. The enchanted voters like Coulter can drink the Romulan Ale. They can whine and stomp their feet all they want because we won’t compromise by electing the Republican liberal.
Capitulating to their foolishness is why we lost the useless majority we procured several years ago and is also why our nation is about to implode into bankruptcy perhaps in a matter of months.
I will no longer suffer fools inebriated by the sonorous voice and silver tongue of a wolf in sheeps clothing. Those who are deeply in love with this phony because they refuse to acknowledge his liberal record can put that in their proverbial pipes and smoke it.
Vote for him if you must but a vote for Romney is a vote for certain schism.
