Mountain men over 50 won't need 14, 20, 26, 41, 44, 61 or 81.

And what was 62? It seems to be missing. Are we out already?

Also honey. It doesn’t go bad, and can be used as an antibiotic, apparently. Topical antibiotic, I mean.

I’m pleasantly surprised. According to this list, I’m pretty well-stocked for barter items. Got a few good ideas of what I’m missing, though.

btw, number 69 is a waste of time stockpiling. Bleach does no keep very long. It has a limited shelf life.

Excellent advice from one who has seen the elephant is at A Survival Q & A: Living Through SHTF In The Middle Of A War Zone.

Very practical advice on that thread:

Go with small thing, lighters, candles, flints. It is great idea to have fuel generator( electrical generating unit?) but i think is better idea to have 1000 bic lighters. Fuel generator is great, but in shtf scenario in town it is going to attract whole army,1000 bic lighters don t take too much space, cheap, you can always trade it for something.

Duct tape twice, also. I would add adhesives, sealers, and caulk, and both electrical tape and plumbers’ tape. Duct tape is probably worth listing twice. All Red Green jokes aside, I’ve made all kinds of things out of duct tape, including a protective jacket for my Bible.

A good supply of nails and screws and the all-purpose fastener: #12 smooth wire. #9 is OK, but it is a little stiff for field-expedient repairs.
