Obviously if you are reading this article you already have a modicum of common sense about the impending changes to our capitalist system or the prophesy about the collapse thereof. Some people who have been out of work and have given up on ever finding another job are no longer counted in the unemployment figures since the change in how they are counted so politicians can justify their piss poor job performance…..the rate currently in reality is something akin to 20% not below 10% as touted. Almost 50 million persons receive food stamps and on the rise. Less than 50% of citizens actually pay taxes.

Most everyone of these items can be used as barter when the dollar eventually collapses and is worthless. There are some pretty powerful people and organizations working quite diligently to make sure that the devaluation happens while they appear at the same time to be propping the currency (and the country) up. Anyways, be sure to have appropriate numbers of containers that can hold smaller quantities of some of these items – for instance – coffee or liquor. Suggest you make that instant coffee – easier to prepare without electricity.
Store these items in plastic sealed containers if you got enough room or increase the amounts on hand for yourself and mark up the items with your own code to determine which items are for barter…..this could be too simple, but how about “B”. KISS.

Not so easy as it seems. Depends on your location. I can't keep a starter uninfected with black mold for more than 4 months here. It's the area. I had a 2 year old one at 7000 ft in NM.
Where you are, you might do well with it.
Real training and practice beats the heck out of reading something in a magazine and thinking you know how.

IRT food, you are correct. Lots of folks will look at perfectly good food, and have no idea how to kill or prep it. Same thing with water. I would expect a lot to die of the old diseases like typhoid and cholora.

Do you keep your starter in your fridge? I realize it won’t last forever, but maybe longer....where I am I can probably keep starter a fairly long time...even NOT in the fridge! Of course having yeast on hand would be better, and having professional knowledge would be best....

And actually... starters in famous places do last for over 100 years... and get personal names. San Fran and NY are two places that do extremely well at that.
I think Las Vegas, New Mexico could make a kick-ass sourdough bread if it was big enough for an artisian bakery that got enough demand.

btw, number 69 is a waste of time stockpiling. Bleach does no keep very long. It has a limited shelf life.

Very practical advice on that thread:
Go with small thing, lighters, candles, flints. It is great idea to have fuel generator( electrical generating unit?) but i think is better idea to have 1000 bic lighters. Fuel generator is great, but in shtf scenario in town it is going to attract whole army,1000 bic lighters don t take too much space, cheap, you can always trade it for something.
