From Stand With Arizona's Facebook page:
PHOENIX (KPHO) -
Sheriff Joe Arpaio had his first run-in with a group of suspected illegal immigrants since things heated up with the Department of Justice.
The Department of Justice recently revoked his deputies' ability to check immigration status inside Maricopa County jails.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Lt. Justin Griffin says they pulled over a vehicle and have eight people in their custody for human smuggling at 35th Avenue and Durango.
Griffin says they attempted to give four of the detainees to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but MCSO says ICE is refusing to take them.
Griffin says, "We asked ICE, 'If we were DPS, would you take them from us?' And we were told specifically, 'Yes.'"
Stay with KPHO.com and CBS 5 for more on this developing story.
He sent the bill before he was running for Pres...And just so you know, Perry and the TX Attorney General have been fighting the Current Administration from Day One.
Looks like the mod fixed this thread so it receives replies again. You are correct. Strauss and the LT GOV were the two who killed the sanctuary bill.
What does Perry want to do to enforce the border?
The trouble with the in-state tuition issue like you describe is that if it’s such a small thing, private donors could have done the same thing without sending the wrong message.
But it is the message that is all-important to the people who push the thing. It’s the same tactic as the Muslims. Their strategy has always been to invade a country, populate one corner of it, and then get the government to concede power to just that one corner, in the name of cultural acceptance. Then, when the legal concessions have been made in one small area that “can’t hurt because it’s so local” they use that precedent to push for it everywhere. So the local area is used as the spearhead to get the whole country by the tail.
The issue then becomes whether Perry realizes the kinds of attacks we’re facing, and the strategies that take advantage of soft-heartedness in order to stick the knife in our backs. “Illegals” aren’t just Mexicans; it also includes Hamas and Hezbollah who have very clearly used these strategies to get all kinds of concessions that will ultimately lead to dhimmitude for all non-Muslims. Newt just indicated an understanding that the non-violent goals of Islam are just as much a threat to America as the violent goals. Sharia is not compatible with the US Constitution. We need somebody who recognizes that, and who knows the strategies to push for Sharia here. This is serious, serious business.
As far as the tuition goes, if the person is a resident they should get in-state tuition. But if they themselves are illegal then they shouldn’t be ABLE to be a resident - whether they are an abandoned kid or an adult. If relatives want their illegal relative to be able to be here, then rather than having the parents abandon them, they should allow their legal US resident relative to legally adopt the child so the child is also legal. That would actually probably be faster than applying for legal immigration and would solve the problem ethically.
This is the conversation that Rick Perry needs to be having with the people he wants to support him. We’re not unreasonable, soul-less people, and when somebody seems to swallow the media line that we are it gives us serious pause. It’s not unforgiveable, but if reconciliation is gonna happen, we gotta be in counseling and do it. Perry has a lot of good things to say and I think most conservatives are probably with him on most things, but just as in marriage it’s that one time that the husband joked publicly about his wife’s looks that is sitting in her craw and the longer he fails to address it the deeper the gap becomes. If he thinks he doesn’t need us on this issue the “marriage” will be over no matter how much he tries to woo us with other issues.
And that’s the difference between Newt and Perry. Newt has the more liberal stance on immigration, I think. People who have deserted Perry because of his comments on in-state tuition may still be moving to Newt even though his position is worse. The difference is that people felt betrayed by Perry, like the wife whose husband cuts her down publicly and then he refuses to acknowledge her hurt and do what it takes to be reconciled. If he really thinks we don’t have a soul then the break-off is already done. If he doesn’t and it’s either a misunderstanding or he just said it for immediate gratification at the time, then he has some explaining to do before this reconciliation can happen.
I like Perry. I would like to get behind him, but I know he’s going to have to resolve these questions if he’s going to get back the support of conservatives who felt betrayed by him. This is constructive advice, to help him not hurt him.
We the people can’t arrest anybody. Only law enforcement can, and the DOJ is binding and gagging them.
Actually - what does the law say about citizen’s arrests?
Of course, it doesn’t matter what the laws say if judges will just ignore it anyway, or if the system that has to process citizen’s arrests is the very system that we’re trying to arrest. It’s like needing the permission of a rapist to arrest rapists.
The “transformational change” that Obama has implemented is to grab this country by the jugular: tying and gagging even the local law enforcement so his administration can rape the whole country while we all watch, powerless to do anything except civil disobedience because all the non-violent avenues for justice have been taken over by enemy forces infiltrating the system.
Bingo we have a winner,
The very instant A Person or Persons willfully and knowingly assists in an Illegal Alien’s attempt to enter or remain in the United States in DIRECT VIOLATION OF LAW, He or She is GUILTY under the Arizona Alien Smuggling Law, And Yes the County Sheriff has the absolute right to ARREST AND CHARGE ANYBODY for VIOLATING STATE LAWS ON ALIEN SMUGGLING AND HARBORING.. The best way to ward off a bully is to punch him square in the nose.
Definitely. They’re doing everything in their power to light a match and ignite this country so their communist-Islamist revolution can finally be finished.
What we need is what OWS tried to be but can’t because it’s actually the movement of rich activists: a grass-roots movement that makes reasonal, critical, actionable demands and won’t stop until it sees those demands met.
We demand that ICE enforces the law, or else all ICE employees including the heads are fired and replaced by somebody who WILL enforce the law, or else ICE itself must be defunded immediately. It’s pretty simple really. And the people who need to feel the pressure are our Congress-critters. They hold the purse-strings and they can do impeachments of the heads who keep ICE from enforcing the law.
Another avenue would be lawsuits. Sue ICE officials personally for aiding and abetting human smuggling in Arizona.
Maybe the State of Arizona could grant emergency powers - in the name of state security - to allow Sheriffs to deport illegals. There’s nothing in the Constitution that prevents states from protecting their own borders, is there? The feds are supposed to be in charge of naturalization but deportations are not naturalization. Can states declare martial law?
Is that what it's like being a Perry supporter? Just say something and expect people to not check it or challenge it? Post a statement like that and then expect the reader to go, "Oh, that Perry! He didn't do this for political reasons. He did it before he announced he was running."
Yeah, three days. As if he woke up three days later and said, "Ya'll know what. I think I'm gonna run for president. Let's what we can put together."
No joke, every sheriff should start emptying prisons and busing them into Washington DC. Let the streets of DC become the battle ground. Let the bastards who refuse to protect the border live with the results.
In DC they might not even notice any difference.
Where do the Congress-critters live in DC anyway? Suburbs? Wherever they live, that’s where the bus needs to drop these folks off.
Thats what I think he should do.. put up more tents and detain them until the feds take them..
Yeah, pretty much, you seem to have nailed it.
Up-thread I saw the crowing about his Special Session legislation, actually the legislation that he put on the "to do" list for the last three days of that session.
When the legislation came up where was Ricky?
Well, Mr. buck-the-system was in Beverly Hills with establishment GOP glad-handing for money. His "excuse" was he was scheduled for a BSA event.
In any case he saw to it he was NOT around to ring phones and twist a few arms to aid "his" legislation. Just like his bid donors in Texas told him. That would be Bob Perry (home construction, no relations) and grocery store chain H-E-B's Charles Butt, both of which are big-time utilizers of illegal alien labor in Texas.
His "I am not establishment GOP" rhetoric was being fire-hosed in all directions... while he was sucking up to Establishment GOP donors IN CALIFORNIA.

Perry plans to a meet behind closed doors Thursday with Orange County Republicans and, later in the day, with legislators in Sacramento. He also plans a sit-down with business leaders and potential fund raisers in Beverly Hills.
He starts his trip Wednesday in San Diego, where he will speak at a Boy Scouts event.

And that would be June 28 and 29, the last days of the Special Session where he has personally scheduled the TSA bill and the Sanctuary City bill.
So much for the "his legislation was before he was running for President."
So much for his "I am not establishment GOP."
This is the real Rick Perry and if he wound up in DC where he would no longer be surrounded by REAL Texas conservatives he would be co-opted by the donks back to his dem roots in the blink of an eye.
.
NEXT!
If there wasn't anything to find, why the the retribution? Why the heavy handed tactics? If there was no problem with Obama he could withstand any scrutiny and they wouldn't even bother. You only try to deter someone from doing something you feel threatened by, not something that had no chance of hurting you.
That alone speaks volumes about Obama's vulnerability on the issue. Put the displaced deputies to work on Obama's eligibility, at least those who aren't shadowing the ICE guy, just waiting for a reason to arrest him. No one is completely squeaky clean, and the thin blue line only stretches so far.
bttt
Yeah, ask the family of the slain border agent if they think that execution would be too harsh a penalty for Fast and Furious. Methinks not. Merry Christmas! Bob
Nazi Obama, punish your political enemies, reward your friends.
I am sick of this creepy despot.
What would the Obama department of injustice do if Sheriff Joe just deports the illegals himself?
Bus them over the Mexico border and put them out.
Screw the worthless federal government.
What laws would prevent Arpaio from busing the illegals over to Mexico and putting them out at the border?
