Agree.
I did not mean to imply that the picture is Obama or even shows any sign of it.
I personally think if a woman was divorcing a man and added children in the divorce decree that he knew nothing about unless he is a complete idiot he would respond because he would be responsible for child support for them if he did not respond.
sorry, I misunderstood.
He wouldn’t be ‘a complete idiot’ if he was agreeable to the arrangement, and no child support was included.
I’ll repeat myself. To award custody to a parent without any identification of the child just seems wrong to me.
Placemark for reading.
Although all state courts will vary in document requirements to file for divorce, most states have a basic set of documents the couple must produced during the filing process, according to author Brett Sember in his guide “The Divorce Organizer & Planner”. Consult with your divorce attorney to be sure you have the right documents on hand.
Identity Documents
States will vary, but most require divorce participants to provide documents proving their identities. The court will need proof that you are who you say you are. This proof may include a driver’s license with a photo, a passport and/or a certified copy of a birth certificate.
Marriage Certificate
Couples must provide a certified copy of a Certificate of Marriage to the court. This document isn’t the “fancy” document you may have signed at the church where you were married. Instead, you will need to produce a certified copy of the Marriage Certificate filed with your county. This certificate will need to have the legal seal of your county or city clerk in order to be official.
Birth Certificates
If your marriage produced children, you will need to submit copies of your children’s birth certificates to the court. Again, these documents need to be official “sealed” copies on file in the county or city clerk’s offices. You may also need to provide Social Security Numbers for each child of the marriage.

I’ve always thought that image had Stan or SHIRLEY Temple photoshopped into it: http://2010famousamericans.pbworks.com/f/1271858601/Shirley%20Temple.jpg
Divorce documents are legal papers and if you lie about anything on them you would be committing perjury.
I was speaking from experience and the fact that my mother divorced my father back in 1955 and obviously she didn't have to provide birth certificates because she never had one for me nor my siblings in her possession. I had to send for a certified copy of my BC from the state of my birth in order to get SS.
Here is some more information. The page that everyone is wondering about that seems to be missing in Stanley Ann Dunham's divorce, could very well have been an order for protection. The courts seal these in order that the respondent does not know where the mother and child are living.
I don’t know how that one paragraph turned out red in my above posting, because I never did an HTML formating to make it so. PUZZLED!
thanks, very useful information...but the link ‘Dissolution of Marriage’ didn’t work for me.
It works when I click on it. Try this one.
If this one works for you go to the left side where it says ending of marriage, then click on Dissolution of marriage. This takes you to the site I had posted.
I can’t access that either, might have something to do with the fact that I am in Australia? Could I ask you to cut and paste the content please?
It would be impossible for me to copy and paste any of this as they are ALL the documents and instructions on how to fill them out. I just thought if you could access the link and browse through them you would get a better understanding of how it is done here.
If the above doesn't work either then there is nothing else I can do. Let me know if it does or doesn't work this time. :-(
thanks, got it now...all I need to find is where it says you can apply for a divorce/custody without a need to supply a birth certificate for the child/children!
You are NOT going to find where it says that.
In a Washington State "Do It Yourself Divorce" you receive a packet of ALL the LEGAL papers and the INSTRUCTIONS. If it ISN'T IN THE INSTRUCTIONS to provide copies then you don't have to provide it. The only thing I remember having to do with making copies of anything was to make 3 copies of each process. One for the court, one for the respondent, and one for your own records.
I thought that when I said I called the Superior Court Clerk just to be sure because it had been awhile, you would believe me. I know you don't know me from the man in the moon, but I am a person of my word and I did call and they confirmed that Birth Certificates are not required.
sorry...I didn’t mean to suggest that I do not believe you!
I certainly do.
You will have freepmail in a moment.
That’s just a weird picture. The left hand of the kid in the striped shirt looks half the size of the right hand. That right hand looks like almost like man’s hand.
I really didnt pay much attention to that photo. The hand around the dark kid doesnt even look like a doable position.
From Year 2011.
