I know the power of prayer so I humbly ask my fellow FReepers to pray that we find my son's glasses.
You see, my 5 year old is legally blind in his left eye with his glasses.
He has a whole slew of eye issues and late september had his 3rd eye surgery.
We haven't been able to find his glasses in about a week and I'm getting pretty frantic.
We're also awaiting word for winter lay-off's any day now. I almost expect hubby to come home with his lay off slip today. UGH.
Our insurance only pays for one pair a year and he just got these in July and well, ya know, ..........so I thought I'll humbly ask for prayers in finding his glasses.
Thank you ~
Are you familiar with this website: http://www.zennioptical.com/ ?
I use them regularly and can heartily recommend them.
Prayers up. For you - for you son - and that your husbank KEEPS his job.
Just remember - the Lord will keep you through all this.
God bless.
In the event you can’t recover them... check prices. on replacement at zennioptical.com - my no-line progressive bifocals were under $80.
I second that. I have had lots of eye problems, and six eye surgeries; and I do very well buying eyeglasses cheaply online. I once paid close to $1,000 for two pairs from LensCrafters. Never again. I have had success with Zenni, EyeBuy Direct and one other company whose name escapes me.
I see I’m not the only zennioptical fan in the thread... see what happens when I reply before scanning the thread.
Yes, I will. :(
If he has been playing outside at all, check around where he was playing. I always used to take mine off and lay them on the steps to the porch or in the crook of a tree or bush. I was 8 or 9 at the time, so a 5 year old might not even think to do that and they could be laying in the grass somewhere.
Prayers up.
Make sure he didn’t throw them away on purpose. At his age I was starting to notice any differences between me and the other kids and I can tell you I would’t have been above chucking them down the storm drain (the most forbidding, mysterious place I knew of) if I didn’t like them.
I had a friend whose son was 6 at the time and he threw his shoes away because they "were ugly and didn't look like the other boy's shoes"(his words). So one day he comes home in his sock feet and no shoes. He said the tried to wear them out but they were to tough so he just tossed them. He didn't do it again after the tanning he got.
I second this. You are so right, five is the age where they begin to want to fit in. As well as the age of total absent-minded bliss. Their little minds are always elsewhere.
I made my folks crazy losing and breaking expensive glasses. Often outside, actually very often outside. Toyboxes, any kind of box, under things, especially under things you wouldn’t think you could put a pair of glasses.
My prayers and best wishes.
Prayers are offered that you will find your son’s glasses, and that your husband’s job will be secure.
We’ve lost things between the car seat and the console that is between the bucket seats. It’s amazing how black car seats hide stuff. I lost my blood sugar tester there a few years ago. I lost it so well, I bought a new one,,,,and of course I then found the old one between the car seat and the console.
Keep looking, you’ll find them!
When my 3rd son came home from school one day and said he couldn't read the black board. I told him to have the teacher move him to the front of the class, but he said he was already in the front row...He never had complained before of not seeing well...We took him to the doctor and he could read the letter E, that was all. He has been in glass's ever since (40 years). He was just not a kid that complained about anything...I was shocked at the doctors office....He was in the 3rd grade at the time.....GG
My daughter started wearing glasses at age 5. Her vision was so bad that she was shutting off one eye and had lost her sense of depth perception. She went to put a plate on the counter and missed the counter, dropped the plate right on the floor.
When we took her to be fitted for glasses she threw a fit and told us that we were wasting our money because she wasn’t going to wear the glasses. The day she got the glasses, they put them on her face and she never took them off. She was so amazed at the difference. She never ever lost or even misplaced her glasses, they were so important to her.
I know that doesn’t help you much. I’d look in the closet, the clothes hamper and where ever he undresses.
Check the laundry and around the washer.
Check behind the couch and under the cushions and put your hand down in the underneath parts. Same with the recliner and all other furniture. Behind, under and inside. As someone said, check the bed frame and under the mattress.
Check behind all the draperies.
Check his closet.
Check the yard.
I drove to the store, came back out and no keys. Went back into the store and couldn’t find them. Looked in the parking lot and under cars. Checked my purse. Looked all over the car. Still no keys. Had to have hubby bring me his set and ordered a new set for me. He searched the car. A week after buying new ones, found the old ones on the seat track but in the back. Never did figure out how they got back there since I hadn’t been driving from the back.
Do you know a psychic who will do a free reading or whatever it’s called? Yeah, crazy, but a friend couldn’t find her wedding ring for six months and on a whim went to a psychic who told her it was folded up in a lawn chair. She didn’t think it could be but she looked as soon as she got home and there is was.
Have checked all things you’ve listed as well as; my truck, the yard, the garage, the barn, the back and front porches, I went thru his rubber made totes that are makeshift “toy boxes” . I’ve went thru and looked in, on, and under anything I can think of in this house.
In fact, I even called my aunt a little bit ago and asked her if she remembered seeing them on the diningroom table Thanksgiving night and she did remember.
The table had just a couple of things on it besides our drinks but for some reason I feel that they were thrown away on accident.
They’re just not here and I’ve looked everywhere possible in the past several days.
Keep praying.
Words cannot express the gratitude for all the prayers.
I’m giving up for the night and will start right back up again tomorrow.
I did however call our local lions club and left a message and havent gotten a return call yet and I doubt that I will at this hour LOL
Thank you all again and keep praying.
Glasses are FOUND ~ WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Again, words cannot express my gratitude for joining in prayer for finding my little one’s glasses.
I was ready to claim defeat and am so glad that I didn’t.
I was jumping around like a fool in thankful bliss.
I know it was all of our prayers sent up to our Lord and Savior that is responsible.
Blessings upon blessings be upon you and yours.
Hey! Don’t keep us in suspense. Where were they?!?
Yippee!
Yes, please do tell us where they were?
