Herman Cain: Yes, My Wife is a Democrat
TPM ^ | 11/08/2011 | Evan McMorris-Santoro

Here’s what we learned from Herman Cain’s appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night: sexual harassment allegations can be funny and the elusive Mrs. Cain is, in fact, a Democrat.

“My wife is a Democrat, but that doesn’t mean that’s how she votes all the time,” Cain told Kimmel.

Not much is known about Gloria Cain, the Republican presidential frontrunner’s wife of 43 years. We were supposed to meet her recently, but the Cain campaign abruptly canceled a planned appearance on Fox News. Last week, the Atlanta Journal Constitution profiled Gloria Cain and discovered that not only is she a Democrat, but that she “has voted in Democratic primaries and runoffs numerous times since 2000 — including the 2008 presidential primary that Barack Obama won with 66 percent of the vote, according to local voting records.”

“She doesn’t even show up on the campaign trail to help her own husband. What does that tell you?

Looks to me like she would rather keep Obama in the White House, than a Republican, even if he is her own husband.”

Are you unaware of her heart condition? THIS is the primary reason she has not been active in the campaign according to Mr. Cain.

Oh really? Want to play?

I guess I am more worried about the other candidates situational political morality then I am about the latest attempt to launch a childish personal attack at Cain

Of course he shouldn't divorce her. I am voting for President and like it or not that comes with a first lady.

These are very serious times to vote for a guy with no real record and a Democrat family and church and pastor. A social justice church at that.

If you asked him why he ran for President and he had to be honest, he would say, to sell books.

If you asked Newt "to keep my brand alive"

If you asked Mitt "because it's the next logical step"

If you asked Perry, well Perry already said to Red State "because our nation is in serious trouble"

When Mrs. Cain runs for office, I’ll worry about her political party and her beliefs...

So let me get this straight.

Mr.Cain's closest and most trusted adviser is Mrs.Cain. Okay. And she's a Democrat. Gotcha!

Yes and switched to Republican to join the Dole/Kemp campaign in 1996. This according to his own VP of Communications.

Cain has peaked.

Cain says, now, that he wants to be Romney’s SOD.

Cain is now vetting himself.

Cain will be using his few millions he got off of his supporters to muscle Romney for a ticket or a job.

Cain has all but shilled for Romney from the beginning.

Rick is done, so what have you got now, but scammed again.

But if you’re 20 and your viewpoint isn’t solidified and your spouse’s viewpoint isn’t solidified, but you both get along great and marry and you now find yourselves on the opposite side of the political fence, what now?

All I can do is speak for myself. I was a confirmed conservative and grounded as such early. I am also a bit of an SOB with those with whom I disagree. Therefore, I could never get serious about a relationship with a lib. Did have one potential relationship jammed for just this reason.

But that’s me. I never said it was a one size fits all.

Normy,
lol. Stop with the Perry cheerleading. A month ago you had every right to but now? it is just embarrassing. Perry ran the worst campaign known to man. I ams till stunned at how he went from hero to zero is minutes. It is kinda said in a way. It will be a case study for political science classes at the University and high school level for how not to run a campaign for centuries to come. I could have done a better job at running his campaign and I have ZERO experience. First thing I would have told him was shut your mouth on immigration. Yep he brought it up first and then the others ganged up on him. He probably does have the most experience but that does not matter anymore because he doesn’t know how to articulate it.

They got married in the 1960s.

People’s political ideas often change over time, I’m sure Cain’s have.

Also remember, that on many issues (particularly social issues) blacks tend to be closer to Republicans than Democrats (it was the black vote that sunk gay marriage in California, for example).
