Herman Cain: Yes, My Wife is a Democrat
TPM ^ | 11/08/2011 | Evan McMorris-Santoro

Here’s what we learned from Herman Cain’s appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night: sexual harassment allegations can be funny and the elusive Mrs. Cain is, in fact, a Democrat.

“My wife is a Democrat, but that doesn’t mean that’s how she votes all the time,” Cain told Kimmel.

Not much is known about Gloria Cain, the Republican presidential frontrunner’s wife of 43 years. We were supposed to meet her recently, but the Cain campaign abruptly canceled a planned appearance on Fox News. Last week, the Atlanta Journal Constitution profiled Gloria Cain and discovered that not only is she a Democrat, but that she “has voted in Democratic primaries and runoffs numerous times since 2000 — including the 2008 presidential primary that Barack Obama won with 66 percent of the vote, according to local voting records.”

Yes, and sometimes one can even be called a liar for posting a factual article. I think there are times on certain threads where the word “liar” actually means “someone saying something I don’t like.”

This isn’t a game.

Why would we want a Democrat FLOTUS? Why on earth would she still be voting for Democrats in national primaries?

Steve86 and Mrs. Steve86 are one couple whose political and moral and religious views are identical. She has a good personality, though. lol

Most all or all of the Traditional Catholic couples we know are like us with respect to these views. Draw your own inferences. No diversity at all.

I could not be married to a Democrat. Just couldn’t. It’s more than politics - it’s an entirely different world and national view of everything.

Baloney!!!!! There is a big difference in thinking for yourself, and being so wrong minded that your own spouse can not even rub off on you. We have a thing called debate in our family. Maybe you are so uppity you counter your spouse just for s's and giggles.

What a tool!!!!!

I posted: >>Here’s Some Cain History: They were BOTH democrats until 1996 when Cain changed.<<

NO where does this say 'Cain's wife'. One must learn to read before posting.

And if he donated to a few democrats, that does not bother me. Examine instead some of the others' incongruous stances on issues or in one case, a faithless moral trail in the candidate's life.

>> If you’re a black man you’re going to be awfully lonely if you restrict your dating to black women that are Republicans. >>

Totally irrelevant response for two reasons:
A: I am not a black man and not in the dating phase of my life, and I said MANY times that this was how I look at it and not applicable to everybody.....
...and
B: It’s been 44 years since Cain was dating his wife. Could have maybe changed that registration somewhere along the line don’t you think? Takes less than 44 years to get that done.

You keep telling the same lie, and hope that saying it makes it so, but it doesn't -- Your candidate said the same thing in 1993 that Perry did:
Herman Cain, 1993: "Thank you very much, Mr. President. Thank you very much for this opportunity. And I would first like to commend you for making health care a National Priority".

Compare that to Perry's words that you attack:

Rick Perry, 1993: "I think your efforts in trying to reform the nation's health care system are most commendable."

And BOTH men followed their perfunctory statement of respect with pointed calls to fix the serious flaws in the proposals; Cain for small businesses, Perry for farmers.

Of course it is dishonest. Cain used the same words when he spoke to Bill Clinton in 1993 about Hillary Care. It’s just a perfunctory courtesy.

Name them. Specifics. I want to know cases from the past where a spouse has influenced a president’s policy? Feel free to go back to George Washington. If all you have is “haven’t there been”, then I’d have to say NO there haven’t. Generalizations are not fact and thinking something happened doesn’t mean it has.

Mr. Cain. This is not good. As much as I like you; the last one whose wife is a democrat and he didn’t show her either until after the election was Scott Brown. He didn’t turn out so well.

You guys just don’t want a real conservative elected; I am afraid.

I’ve seen no proof that Cain voted for Clinton or was a democrat. It doesn’t make much sense to be a democrat and Clinton backer in 1992 and then turn into a pro-market Hillarycare opponent in 1993.

The claim usually comes from a Perrybot, everything they say should be taken with a grain of salt unless independently confirmed, one alleged quote from a staffer doesn’t do it for me. Perry of course was himself sympathetic to the cause of hillarycare. He and Jim Jeffords were about the only Republicans in the country that were.

If he was a democrat I don’t like it but I’m not shocked as 90% of Black people are raised that way and he wasn’t politically active till the 90’s. Perry allegedly being a conservative leader in the party of Walter Mondale and Al Gore would still be worse.

I’m unhappy that Mrs. Cain is a democrat, so was Laura Bush (I don’t believe her switch to GOP as being genuine, she sure ain’t a conservative) but first lady is not on the ballot and it could even be helpful to the campaign to have this “bipartisan support”. I sure hope he doesn’t take her advice on any policy stuff though, doesn’t seem like he does.

I have to say I’d love it to have a quiet first lady that stays out of the spotlight. The Wookie is giving Hillary and Elenanor Roosevelt a run for their money for the title of “worst ever”.
