Obama has killed a desperately needed pipeline. We lose 25,000 jobs and CHEAPER energy costs, while bitchslapping one of America's greatest allies. Obama needs to be called out.
Where are the Republican warriors on the right? Aren't they more afraid of what Obama and the uber left are doing to destroy this country than they are of the ankle-biting press?
Considering the dire straits this nation is in, this is criminal.
U.S. punts tricky pipeline decision past 2012 election hat tip Van
(Reuters) - The U.S. government on Thursday delayed approval of a Canada-to-Texas oil pipeline until after the 2012 U.S. election, bowing to pressure from environmentalists and sparing President Barack Obama a damaging split with liberal voters he may need to win reelection.
The decision to explore a new route for TransCanada Corp's Keystone XL oil pipeline to avoid fragile territory in the Sand Hills of Nebraska dismayed the Canadian government, which had lobbied assiduously for the $7 billion project.
It also drew a harsh reaction from the oil industry and from Republicans in Congress who accused Obama of sacrificing jobs for the sake of his reelection.
nobama is a hate crime foisted upon America.
That was obvious a LONG time ago. I would add more but you covered the salient points.
I have always wondered why the Dems constantly file harassing law suits, make false claims and pursue conservatives with a vengance when they are in power and the Repubs never retaliate when they win. I was never a big Tom Dalay fan but look what they have done to him and we have no response. This goody two shoes crap only goes so far. Why does the house continue to allow Obummer to rule by decree? They are allowing him to become a dictator.
Well, I’m glad we saw it here, because we know that the MSM, Newt, the Republican establihshment and Scarborough, will be certain not to way anything about it. (I’m right about this, and Scarborough is wrong.)
Republicans are chained by public laws from doing the right thing. The press seems to have taken over the public discussion of everything.
These would be largely union jobs.
Here we have another train wreck between two dem-party constituencies-enviros and unions.
Backfire.
It looks like Obama knows how rabid his base is against the Right - he gets to piss off unions to assuage envirowhackos and knows damned well the unions will lick his boots at the polls in November. Next time he will piss off the enviros and they will add their spittle to his boots with the union lackeys.
Nonsense. Dissent is patriotic. At least that was the mantra of Hillary Clinton and company during the Bush administration.
And I also agree with the engineer's comments.
I've come across a number of articles in railroad and shipping industry publications about the fast-growing market for transporting crude oil in railroad tank cars across North America. It would not surprise me if it turns out that the Class I railroads -- including the Burlington Northern Sante Fe railroad that is owned by Warren Buffett -- have been a key player in this project one way or another.
Obama has killed a desperately needed pipeline.A GE moment?.
“Where are the Republican warriors on the right? “
They are part of the established order. Boehner, McConnell, Romney and others prove everyday the election of a Republican Senate and Republican President in 2012 will not roll back the explosive expansion of the government under George Bush and Obama.
Every proposal involves tinkering around the edges. If they were serious the House Republicans would end the current government practice of assuming baseline budget growth every year and any reduction in that rate of growth considered a cut. A cut is a cut from the existing year’s budget. A 5% growth in a department’s budget instead of the 7% projected baseline growth is not a cut.
I’ll believe the Republicans are serious when they start talking about a real cut in year to year spending. Reducing the rate of “projected” increase is a waste of time and energy and an insult to the people. The only Republican who has come close to talking about real cuts is Ron Paul and he is not electable. The rest of them just want to play the game.
"Tee-heee!"
Cain on foreign policy:
With clarity, identify our enemies ....and stop giving them money.
(and works for all enemies both foreign and domestic)
We will get a GOP president. He damn well better approve this and request drilling off the coasts and shale exploitation.
I think we will get a GOP Senate.
We will have the House and White House, and I am praying we have the Senate. Majority Leader DeMint works for me.
If we have all three, we damn well better get Obamacare repealed and a long litany of anti-Dem, anti-Socialist laws right down to hamstringing EPA, Education & Energy.
I fear our GOP president will be a RINO like Romney and I fear the get-along Senate who refuses to steamroll the Dems as they did to us having the Senate & House for 2 years.
We will have to be very very loud in shouting our demands at the new RINO president and the new GOP Senate majority.
Yes, I know there is no way DeMint will be majority leader. It will be a RINO.
The frontrunner of the campaign will be the one that hammers BO the most on this. Imagine if Cain said, “I’m not even President yet and I’ve helped create 400,000 jobs.”
BO needs to be held accountable today!!!!
Yes, not approving the pipeline is insanity of the first order. Even 0’s union thug allies are screaming about it. He’s very simply pandering to the eco-nut fringe.
The only problem with your article, is the total number of jobs affected are more like 200,000 - the 25,000 are direct hires, not counting the halo effect of support, supply and so on.
Then there are the beneficial effects of potentially cheaper oil, less dependence on the Middle East, and better NA oil supply for our military...
