Over the past six months, the Keystone XL Pipelines prospects have oscillated between probable and unlikely. The current rumors surrounding this project suggest that Obama is going to bow to the insatiable wing of his Party, the Greens, and delay the Keystone pipeline until after the 2012 election.
This is a huge mistake.
TransCanada has said they will scrap the desperately needed construction project if it is delayed another yearthe pipeline has already been pending for three years. With unemployment lingering around nine percent, the country can ill afford to scuttle this economic stimulus.
Drawing an arbitrary line in the sand, environmentalists threatened to Al Gore (support a third party candidate or sit out the election) Obama if he doesnt kill this project. Bucking the facts and the American public, preliminary reports suggest that Obama has caved to pressure from the far Left.
The three false claims environmentalists are making about the Keystone Pipeline are easily refuted.
Claim 1: Building the pipeline will increase global emissions and harm the environment. The State Department has said that constructing the Keystone pipeline will result in no significant impacts to most resources along the proposed Project corridor. Furthermore, it is now possible that TransCanada will simply build a different pipeline to the Canadian coast and ship the crude Alberta oil to be refined in China. Whether or not Obama allows this pipeline to be built, the Canadian oil will be extracted, transported, and used.
Claim 2: The pipeline endangers the public. America is literally covered in pipelines. The easiest way to transport the enormous amount of oil needed to power our economy is through an infrastructure of pipelines. Trucks and boats, while utilized, cannot carry nearly as much oil or gasoline and are also susceptible to accidents....

Take this article and others I found to the fight to the Libs on their own turf; put the Left on the defensive at Digg and at Reddit and in Stumbleupon and Delicious
It’s dead, Jim.
This will also have the desirable effect (to the left) of keeping fuel prices much higher. This is insanity! It should become a major election issue.
“Claim 1: Building the pipeline will increase global emissions and harm the environment.”
Here’s a suggestion for the dork-in-chief. Build the pipeline now, enable jobs creation, lessen our dependance a little more on the ragheads, and possibly see some slight energy cost reduction. When, AND IF, the time finally comes where we can all power our cars from unicorns farting skittles, we can (gasp!) remove the pipeline.
Get oil from America’s greatest friend, Canada, and create thousands of jobs or cave to environmentalists and continue to buy oil from the arab muslims.
Great choice, Barry!
OK, possibly stupid question: Why do they need to build a 1000 mile, plus, pipeline when a refinery can be built near the source of the oil? It’s not like it’s in the middle of nowhere Alaska and the refined product can’t be reasonably transported.
The Left’s goal is to destroy this country as a super power, and eliminating inexpensive, and efficient energy sources is one of the tools the Left is using.
Obama is of the Left, and is doing the job he was funded for POTUS by the Left to accomplish towards their goal of a NWO. A NWO that the United States that was is now incapable of preventing.
IMO
The Canadian Minister of Finance said today that the delat may be a deal killer and they would explore alternatives. He is traveling to China next week.
The word “cave” gives him too much credit. This is Barry being Barry. He was trying to decide if he could screw the unions and get away with it. He decided he could.
I mean the unions and everyone else.
i’d like to see one of the GOP candidates go through a list of things that Obama has designed to go through only AFTER the election of 2012 and then ask, why do you think it is that Obama wouldn’t want you to have immediate benefit if the idea is so good?
Yup. Obama’s plan is to starve America, its growth and its defense by strangling energy. Also, this will force inflation by driving up costs. It will limit the mobility and activity of every citizen in America. Lets look at home heating bills.
Either way, Canada will sell the oil and I am sure the Chinese will soak it up @ America’s expense.
Yes, by pipeline.
So instead of building a pipeline, you suggest building a multi-billion dollar refinery, plus a pipeline?
We don't have a shortage of refineries. The US now is a net exporter of refined products. But we do have a shortage of input to those refineries.
Isn’t this pipeline meant to carry Canadian product to American markets? If so, I have to ask why we should be buying Canadian oil when we have so much of our own.
92,
Astoung. The energy phobs will hate the 0 for vacillation; the unions will hate him for putting labor on hold while he is clambering for SEIU, “NOW”.
American Petroleum Institute (API), which called the move “deeply disappointing and troubling”. According to API, a recent poll found that nearly 80 percent of Americans favor receiving greater supplies of oil from Canada.
“Whether it will help the president retain his job is unclear, but it will cost thousands of shovel-ready opportunities for American workers,” API President and CEO Jack Gerard noted. “There is no real issue about the environment that requires further investigation, as the president’s own State Department has recently concluded after extensive project reviews that go back more than three years. This is about politics and keeping a radical constituency opposed to any and all oil and gas development in the president’s camp in November 2012.”
R.
I would rather buy Canadian oil over the OPEC we are buying today.
We need to produce more of our owns but even if we were allowed to drill everywhere, it would take decades to reach zero imports.
true
He is the most vile person on this earth.
