And You Thought the Penn State Sex Abuse Scandal Couldn't Get Any Worse!

The list of enablers seems to grow by the minute... the beloved JoePa may now even face charges himself for not reporting Sandusky. Then there's the crimes themselves: suffice to say, the kind that get you killed your first week in prison. What an unmitigated nightmare for sleepy State College, Pa, the entire NCAA, and above all the victims.
But the sad fact this case could get a whole lot uglier...
Obviously there's more questions than answers at this point: like how the wife, family, and Penn State associates of Jerry Sandusky all justified covering for such hideous crimes. About the only ones not asking these things might be the mob of morally-retarded Penn State fans who actually rioted over the firing of Paterno yesterday.
But recall that the OSU Buckeyes lost Jim Tressel earlier this year because he covered for players selling a couple jerseys
what did they possibly expect at Penn State, then. Paterno had plenty of warnings, and somehow just didnt do the right thing. Get over it, Penn State fans- a luxury the victims -who may number as many as 17- will probably never enjoy.
What now?
One thing people are talking about today is how the initial 1998 investigation into the vile predatory habits of Jerry Sandusky went nowhere. All of us -along with all his subsequent targets- are left wondering why nothing ever happened when there'd been firsthand witnesses and even a direct admission.
Seems that thirteen years ago when Center Country DA
Ray Gricar was working the case against Sandusky, he quite mysteriously failed to ever bring charges, despite the wealth of evidence... but it doesn't look like anybody's going to get to ask him about it, except for St Peter maybe:
We may never know why Gricar did not press charges against Sandusky, despite Sandusky's admissionsper the grand jury reportthat he had showered naked with the boy and hugged him.
The hard drive from Gricar's computer turned up on the banks of the Susquehanna River six months after his disappearance, according to this story Ganim wrote three years ago, when she was still at the State College, Pa.-based Centre County Daily Times. Whatever was on that hard drive will forever be the subject of speculation now...
Gricar just as mysteriously went missing after telling his girlfriend he was to go for a day off drive in the park... the DA was never seen nor heard from again. His Red Mini Cooper was found soon afterward, cellphone still on the seat.
Investigators said internet searches conducted from Ray Gricar's house on that day he vanished in 2005 include "how to wreck a hard drive" and "water damage to notebook computer", among other things. Three months after Gricar's disappearance, his government-issued notebook was found by a fisherman, sans hard drive. Three months after that, that heavily damaged hard drive was found along the same river's banks. The tough Gricar had just busted a major heroin ring, and was at the crest of his career- why on Earth would he be afraid to go after a child molester?
Recall a few years back, where they busted that Belgian child-sex ring... one that not only swapped playthings amongst themselves -often their own children- but enforced the security of the operation with violent, mafia-style manipulation and even vengeance killings?
Seems this case is beginning to acquire a similar stench... Sandusky certainly had his helpers, and now perhaps we'll be finding out who all they were, as well as just how far they were willing to go to protect the oh-so-very sick and dangerous Jerry Sandusky.

I am just wondering, JenB, if there were possible rumors all along? Why would your Dad make that comment if he didn’t hear something along the way?

“Im glad they fired Paterno, but I still dont understand the old medias focus on this. If they were so worried about child rapists, why havent they gone after Barney Frank?”
Joe Paterno is a Republican.
What’s happened to the graduate assistant who actually saw the crime?
Isn’t he at least as morally responsible as Paterno was to report the crime to police?
Or is he a Democrat?

First, my dad is an amazing judge of character. It’s scary how often his first impression of someone is right on.
Second, there almost must have been rumors. We lived 2 hours or so from State College, most of his coworkers over the years were Penn State grads. The grand jury stuff from years ago might have leaked out... I don’t really know. Might have to pry a little next time I talk to him. I don’t know.
I didn’t go to Penn State and I haven’t lived in PA for eight years or so, so I don’t know any real details. But a lot of my old friends are really, really shook up about all this.

So true. I learned the hard way this truth. Had a bookkeeper who embezzled six figures from my families’ company. She was the first person to get into work, and the last to leave at night. Never took any vacation. We thought she was just a great worker. The forensic accountant who sorted out the embezzlement said it was classic behavior in these cases. The perp is protecting the nest egg. Her crime was uncovered when she had a medical emergency at work, and still refused to go to the hospital. Had to almost force her into the ambulance. That afternoon we found a company check made out to her personal credit card bill. Luckily she paid back every cent, with the subtle threat of prison hanging over her.

RUINS JOE PA’S CAREER????
Sorry, but Joe Pa ruined his career when he failed to do the right thing. I know he was put in a less than desirable position, but while he may have done all he was “legally” required to, (and I still find that dubious) he certainly didn’t do what he was morally required to.
I firmly believe Joe Pa knew this guy was molesting kids at least as early as 1998 when the first investigation took place and Sundusky “retired” in 1999. This whole mess stinks to high heaven, and the cover up and those involved extends WAY beyond just PSU and its staff..
Sandusky was taking a child from school without parental consent.. do you really think someone in that school could not be complicite for something like to have been going on? I know I can’t walk into a school and take a child that isn’t mine out without explicit consent.. can you?
I fully expect at this point that we will find the local police and DA as well were complicit in keeping this quiet as well.
Joe Pa ruined his career, no one else.

Dads can definitely be good judges of character! With something going on this long (and now possibly being talked about as a “ring”) people have heard whispers. Thanks, JenB!

She was the first person to get into work, and the last to leave at night. Never took any vacation. Red flag Number One...I thought it was the law that people in sensitive positions had to take vacations, no matter what.
