In the world of sound-bites, Perry has committed a mortal sin.
I didn't want to see any Perry supporters here go through this though. I hurt for them. This wasn't just a gaffe, this was total humiliation. They, his supporters, especially here, didn't deserve that.

Give it up. He is cooked. That is the ONLY thing they are showing on the news. Perry screwed up and really should drop out today. They are saying that is the most embarrassing debate screw up in History!!!! I mean it seriously on every news show. If not for Penn State, it would be the ONLY news.
So far, Perry has been his own worst enemy, He isn’t down in the polls by anything inflicted by anyone else.
I believe I heard he wouldn’t debate his prior opponent. Big mistake. The guy needs a lot of practice.
It amazes me when a person won’t work on their main flaws, especially if those flaws can take you out.

I realize his campaign is in trouble. I, for one still think he’s a good man. I’ll be around a couple years from now (hopefully) to watch whichever candidates become president “forget” to close ANY of those unneeded agency.
Since ‘ol Perry detracts from the debates, I suppose a good title for him would be “debator” Since some of the others are so good at telling people exactly what they want to hear, they should be classified as “masterbators”....
We Palinistas had to come to Jesus too. Not fun, but what can you do. It be what it be. Still plenty of work for us both to do to defeat Romney, then Obama... so saddle up Pilgrim (he said in his best Texas voice ;)
I'm hardly a Perry supporter, but it's much more important to me that he recognizes the need to implode government than whether he has a momentary brain-freeze while speaking.

Well, we all have brain farts from time to time, but definitely doesn’t help if you are doing it in a debate, and its something you’ve been saying and resaying daily as part of your stump speeches.
I gotta be honest, how folks jumped on board with Bachmann and then Perry is beyond me.
All of Perry’s backers will throw their support behind Mittens. They’re RINOs at heart just like Mitt. No real conservative would want to pay for the education of illegal aliens.

I don't think he ever really wanted to run - he was talked into it. Maybe it's that reluctance that comes through in debates.I said the exact same thing on an earlier thread.
Perry was actually doing quite well in last night's debate. Not only better than he'd ever done before but actually good, by a fair and level standard.
And then suddenly... in my opinion... the inner Perry rebelled.
I don't think Perry wants to run for President.
He accepted the task as a Christian, a conservative and a patriot.
But he doesn't really want to do it.
As we used to say in the Army: He stepped on it.
