Ron and Rand Paul are small "l" libertarians within the Republican Party. Rand has never been anything other than a Republican.
Ron Paul only ran for President as a Libertarian back in 1988 because after having been part of a Republican Congress with a Republican president that still kept expanding the size of government, he had given up on the idea of the Republicans ever cutting the size of government.
Personally, I think that Ron Paul is not only the best choice -- he is the only choice for a presidential candidate who will actually do what he says he is going to do about cutting the size of government.
I think that Rand Paul would make an excellent VP.
Re cutting the president’s wages — I strongly suspect that the $39K will simply all that Ron Paul will take as President, just as Arnold Schwarzenegger only took a symbolic $1 a year as California’s governor. That doesn’t mean that the salary of the President would be cut, but rather that this is the amount that HE would accept as President.
Perry’s ignoring the threat of Islam is a deal breaker for me. It’s too bad because the rest of what he says, I like very much.
It’s not the salary of the president that is the problem, it’s the expense account type items for vacations and entertaining, the misuse of AirForce One and all the other perks that Obama and Michelle abuse.
Here is why I don’t like Ron Paul. During the last pres election cycle, I had a chance to speak with him on a talk show in Iowa the day before the Caucuses. I applauded him for the defense of our Constitution but told him I had a foreign policy question. “Okay, he said.” So I asked, paraphrasing, “Congressman Paul, if North Korea was sending a shipment of nuclear tipped missiles to Iran, would you board and seize or sink that ship?” His answer was startling. He said, “No, why would we do that?” I know what Ronald Reagan would do. Paul continued that it would be none of our business. None of our business? Is he freaking kidding? That is not my commander in chief, no matter how much I would agree with him on Constitutional issues.
What are ya worried about Islam for? People like Bush invited in tens of thousands of Muslims, while rolling out the red carpet for tens of millions of illegal aliens from God knows where, all during war time, as he and other politicians reward and pander to them.
With the exception of Michelle Bachmann, so’s the rest of them.
We need to abolish ‘Presidents’ Day’ and celebrate the birthday of George Washington who was the first and the best president. Reagan is a close second.
re:Iran. We could but if Iran sets a nuclear warhead off in our upper atmosphere (which all they need now is an A-bomb and their working on it) the EMP will dump us back into the stone age and it won’t be pretty around here.
We’ll recover quickly enough as nothing like a disaster can make America shine but it’ll take time.
It is the responsibility of the federal government to provide the protection for us we cannot provide for ourselves.
I have no way of protecting myself from terrorism attacks. That is job one.
Nutty Nurse:
I suppose you work in the psychiatric ward.
But what about Iran? lol..
I have no way of protecting myself from terrorism attacks. That is job one.
The chances of you and your family being broadsided and killed by a car full of drunk illegal aliens are much greater, by several magnitudes. In fact your chances of choking on a to death on a chicken bone are much greater.
What does Iran have to gain by picking a fight with a superpower? Even dictatorships and hellhole third world countries have some mindset of self preservation.
Personal attacks toward me do not alter the fact that your hero of truth and honesty wears fake eyebrows. ROFLMAO!
Interesting. But who do you think that Iran, if they ever got their hands on those missiles, would target? Israel? They got hundreds of nukes -- Iran would be a wet spot before they had time to blink if they attacked Israel. Us? Ever seen Iran on a map? They are surrounded by US-friendly or US occupied countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, etc... The Iranians aren't stupid, they know if they pulled ANYTHING -- even something fairly minor -- we could and would invade them in a heartbeat. All that Ahmadinejad false bravado is because Iran is surrounded and they are really scared to death of us.
So personally, I think that there are a lot more things that are more likely to kill us than an Iranian nuke -- like starvation if we don't get this economy rolling!
Wait. Wait......
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
