Governor Perry has the reputation of a swaggering Texan, but he's not one to knock others off the podium. He's a gentleman, who is out to defeat the real enemy: Barack Obama. and big, centralizes, expensive, inefficient and unConstitutional Government. These are the real threats to liberty and the real job killers, according to him.
In these videos, he's speaking to a group of college students about jobs, tar sand oil fields and the proposed gas pipeline from Canada through the US, and about Social Security and Medicare. I don't think the audience or the questions make the difference in his energy and clear message.Instead, I believe he's more comfortable fighting issues and the opposition party that people that he considers compatriots. I thought the same thing watching him debate Debra Medina and Kay Bailey Hutchinson in the 2008 Texas Republican Primary debates.
Note who and what the Governor is talking about and condemning: big government and Barack Obama (or " OBarack Obama," at one point.) He's not attacking his fellow Republican candidates.I think the Governor just doesn't like attacking his fellow candidates or being attacked.

In that second video, Governor Perry mistakenly says the founding of the Nation was in the "16th Century." The people who laugh at that gaffe did not even notice that he went on to quote the 10th Amendment. I'll bet that none of them could do that!

I haven't tried to post videos here before. I hope this works.
The videos are worth your time, and I couldn't help but make a few editorial guesses comments of my own.
Here's the Red State pages:
Part I,
and Part II.

Well, I goofed somehow and don’t know why. (and I’m on my way to a meeting, so can’t play for a few hours.)
But you could always watch these on youtube, my blog or RedState.

Abstinence, like condoms, works when used consistently and correctly. Unlike all the rest, abstinence has a 100% protection from unplanned pregnancy and STD’s.

Jamestown and Plymouth colonies were founded in the early 17th century, Perry's "gaffe" is no big deal.
Obama saying that the "Mexicans" were here before there was a U.S.A., now that's stupid.

He is great one on one like that, I wish people could see more of that on TV, but someone has to bother to ask him a decent question and give him more then 30 seconds to answer.

Thanks for posting those Perry videos from after the Dartmouth debate. I only wish Perry sounded that good in the debates themselves.
It goes without saying. Rick Perry is a solid fiscal and social conservative and has a great executive governing record in Texas. He's also a great retail politician and can raise tons of cash to support his state organizations. His debate performance last night was okay. He did a decent job and didn't hurt himself or stumble like he did at the Fox-google debate.
The problem is, Perry is not gaining ground back that he lost since that disastrous Fox-google debate. His numbers are holding steady in the mid-teens, after dropping off 8-15% across the board. Yes, within striking distance of Willard. But Perry is not making the case why conservatives should vote for him. Perry is not using the debates to his advantage and he's not appearing on enough talkshows or giving enough interviews to get his message out.
Perry is still my #1 choice to beat Romney. And we know conservatives don't want Romney as the gop nominee. Even with Cain's surge in the polls most objective analysis say Cain will not be the nominee. If Perry wants to be the nominee, he better find some fire in the belly and he best find it quick.

All that you say is true.
Rick has always been a great campaigner in the past and I hope he can get it in gear soon.
And I think he will.

The more people see the dynamic speaker that we know is there, the better for the Governor.
(begin satire or semi-satire:)
Somehow we need to make the videos we like go “viral” the way that BarnacleCenturion’s and Berlin Freeper’s friend’s videos on gay or bad lip synced Rick Perry’s videos do.
Would it work to post them on youtube as Rick Perry gaffes?
Or maybe we could get the liberals to find an insult in them: I had my best day ever for my newish blog, yesterday when frumfrum claimed that Perry had insulted practicing Jews who could not attend the Values Voter Summit due to Yom Kippur.
What really works on a blog is to talk about atheists and Ron Paul. Maybe we could get more of the confrontations between Paul and Perry!

What thoughtful and intelligent answers from Governor Perry.
I hope he can get this comfort on the debate stage soon and no one will be able to surpass him!
And NO teleprompter! :)
