On eve of debate, Rick Perry ‘pretty confident’ he’ll win
Houston Chronicle ^ | LYNN SHERR, Parade Magazine interview - Oct 23 issue

Posted on 10/11/2011 2:45:11 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

...LYNN SHERR: Do you feel as if the other candidates have been ganging up on in the debates?

RICK PERRY:“When you come into the fray and you’re leading in the polls, you’re going to get attacked by everyone. I get it. I’m a big boy, and I know how to play that game. “

Your critics say you’re not electable...

“Well, I disregard that. Americans are looking for somebody to stand up and tell them the truth, and I have a record to back it up. Ultimately, if I can explain my heart, my jobs record, and my philosophy to Americans, I’m pretty confident that I’ll win.”

You’re a very successful fund-raiser....The word that’s been applied to you is “cronyism.”...

“That’s the same old, tired criticism which comes when people don’t want to talk about the real issues, like how do we create jobs......"Decisions in Texas are generally legislative, with the lieutenant governor, speaker, and governor making them together. There were no unilateral decisions from my office dealing with those issues. And I’ll go back to my record. I’ve been elected three times as governor. The people obviously have confidence in me.”

Your wife, Anita Perry,....

“She’s very smart and loyal. She’s not predisposed to be a public figure since she saw how her father, a small-town doctor, had to be shared with all these other people. She’s also a great patriot. “

Some of our recent presidents have admitted to experimenting with drugs...

“No, ma’am. Not unless you call caffeine a drug. Or cold beer or whiskey.”....

They always tell you what they plan to do.

Herman Cain:

“The role of government, in my view, is to maintain an equal balanced playing field for the citizens and for our society. Not to throw it out of balance.”

“The role of government, in my view, is to maintain an equal balanced playing field for the citizens and for our society. Not to throw it out of balance.” (From Cain's interview with John Stossel, link above)

If that comment alone doesn't bother anyone, they need to get a bigger picture of the societal balance act Cain envisions from the revenues from his 999-funded empowerment zone programs. See post 79 above for more info.

casinva, you’re truly on to something.

RP isn’t from outer space. He’s not a godzilla monster. He’s a human being. I know it states the obvious, but that obvious truth is being covered over by those who don’t want to know there’s a real human inside the wrapping.

And he’s a proud son of rural America, rural Texas, and well raised by his parents. Everything traces back to Paint Creek, Cotton farming, Boy Scouts, family and Faith...

At times in today’s times, that can get you in trouble with those who “run the show”, culturally speaking.

Other times, it shows like a thing shining through the murky haze of these “modern” days, and gives you a good feeling in the midst of too many bad vibes.

People who declare and vow to kill off Rick Perry’s candidacy don’t want you to experience that decent humanity.

Campaign Carl just said there will be no national audience for the debate tonight. WTF? How are we supposed to see it?

I don’t know if I would count on that with Cain. The movers, shakers and big donors do not see Cain as a serious candidate. When you haven’t set up your state-wide organization [and Cain has had every opportunity to do that] and can’t fundraise which in Q3 92 days he raised 2.6 [part of that money is shifting funds from himself]. Big donors will not donate to you. Whereas Perry raised 17.1 in 49 days and has state-wide organizations set up along with Romney...big donors look at that and know you are a serious candidate and that is who they donate to.

You need to know the Constitution a little more (or just want to honor it) if you think the responsibility was EVER Governor Perry’s to begin with!

Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

Why is Bloomberg and the Washington Post sponsering the REPUBLICAN debates.

Are Republicans stupid?

Why would they participate in their enemy’s territories.

This is insane!

Who is “our” ? Just curious.

You do understand that Front runners change almost as much a clean person changes their underware ?

You also understand that Front runners are in the eyes of the beholder AND in the joke polls ?

I could get behind Perry OR Cain ( no freakin Romney or Huntsman ) but the FReepers with PDS are really turning me off with their massive PDS and posting the S.S.D.D.

Perry has a political record to go on whereas Cain does not.

Ya know, one could say the same to you. Do you want another four years of Ovomit with your Perry bashing ?
Goes both ways ya know.
Think about it.

Presume = Assume... and you know what they say about that word dontcha ?

Seriously, I told my husband on election day if he voted for Ovomit, I’d take our two children and LEAVE his ass. And I meant it with every fibre of my being. So dont presume to know anything about me. EVER!

Have a nice day.

Will you vote for Cain or will you vote for Zero ? Those are your choices. A vote for La Raza Rick is a vote for Zero.

“The role of government, in my view, is to maintain an equal balanced playing field for the citizens and for our society. Not to throw it out of balance.”

I guess, CW, that you cannot tell the difference between a balanced playing field and government driving the outcome. A balanced playing field simply means no crony capitalism and special favors.

You are among the worst of the Perry spinners, trying to turn even the most basic of Cain's statements into an attack. And failing miserably in the process.

Sir, with all due respect, I believe you need to refer to a previous post on this thread if you want to know who I’ll support.

But ya know what, in the end, whoever gets the pubbie nomination, that is exactly who I’ll vote for.

And you?

Nice try. Won’t fly. That’s why every Cain supporter is ignoring it like they would the crazy aunt in the attic.
