Chuck Heath, Jr., brother of Gov. Sarah Palin, has provided the statement below to Big Government and Big Journalism:
"The McGinniss book is filled with one lie after another. The final straw for me was when I learned that he used me as a source for his lies about my sister and brother-in-laws marriage. He included in his book comments falsely attributed to me by one of his unnamed sources. Neither McGinniss nor Crown/Random House reached out to me to verify, or even comment on, this alleged hearsay from an unnamed source. They just ran with it, and as a consequence, the tabloids picked it up and used it to fuel false rumors about my sister getting a divorce. All of this is a total lie, and Im sick of seeing my sister, her family, and our extended family being trashed by smear-merchants like Joe McGinniss and his publisher."
WRONG!!!
He needs to be destroyed totally by lawsuits against the publisher. The publisher is ultimately responsible for the lies he propagated in his book as they did not perform due diligence in verifying the veracity of his writings. It is a bit like Dan Rather and George Bush's National Guard Service. Rather so much wanted the lie to be true that he ran with it instead of checking the truth of the lie.
Truth is a real bitch when it bites you in the ass. :)
Where to start?
* Chuck Heath and Sarah Palin are different people.
* It's not 'whining' to initiate proceedings that may lead to a libel case, when you have been libelled.
* Saying that you 'love someone to death' and then making incongruent and insulting remarks about them is for flakes and concern trolls. Don't be that FReeper.
You are correct.
You’re right - I’m not.
I let fly a little too hard, I suppose. I also made a mistake in commenting on Sarah even thought the comments came from her brother.
But, as far as the suit goes. Holding Random House up to ridicule doesn't bother them at all. Look at the NYT or Seattle PI.
It's a great interview.
