White House Pressure for a Donor? [Talk about crony capitalism!]

The Pentagon has worried for months that a project backed by a prominent Democratic donor might interfere with military GPS. Now Congress wants to know if the White House pressured a general to change his testimony.
The four-star Air Force general who oversees U.S. Space Command walked into a highly secured room on Capitol Hill a week ago to give a classified briefing to lawmakers and staff, and dropped a surprise. Pressed by members, Gen. William Shelton said the White House tried to pressure him to change his testimony to make it more favorable to a company tied to a large Democratic donor.
The episodeconfirmed by The Daily Beast in interviews with administration officials and the chairman of a congressional oversight committeeis the latest in a string of incidents that have given Republicans sudden fodder for questions about whether the Obama administration is politically interfering in routine government matters that affect donors or fundraisers. Already, the FBI and a House committee are investigating a federal loan guarantee to a now failed solar firm called Solyndra that is tied to a large Obama fundraiser.

I don’t know if impeachment is the road to go. He’s going to be out of there on his own before we can remove him from office. I doubt it’d get through the Senate anyway.
I DO think he ought to be prosecuted. And no Pardon. Yes, it’s an ugly thing to have a former President imprisoned, but apparently the ethos right now is that some people are untouchable. Give proof that they’re not.

In April, Grassley asked Genachowski to hand over all records of communications, including emails between Falcone and the FCC, and LightSquared and the FCC. Genachowski declined to turn over those records.Whoops, time to put the shredders at the FCC into overdrive.

This happens more often than is generally thought. Back in Clinton time during the tenure of the Hon. Togo west as SecArmy his office did everything it could short of issuing a direct order to get the Army to sign on to the Boeing Prime Contractor concept for the AH 64 Apache. The PC concept was supposed to reduce cost by shifting virtually all maintenance and support below unit level to the airframe manufacturer. The problem was the Boeing numbers were cooked so badly that the AMC reviewers could never even figure them out. The organic support numbers always came in lower if anybody but Boeing did the accounting drill. The back and forth between AMC and DA Staff and SecArmy went on for months hanging up long term planning and budgeting for Apache support. Finally Sec Army got told in some fashion that the numbers it kept pushing would never be signed off on and the only way Prime Contractor was going to
happen was for the Hon. Togo to issue a direct order. He was a hack but not a really dumb one so that ended the PC Apache saga. Someone at DA staff had the guts to stand up to the hacks maybe at the price of his career.

Falcone, his wife, and the CEO of LightSquared, Sanjiv Ahuja, have ....given more than $90,000 to the Democratic causes.... since they applied for the license. ..and the drumbeat of "pay to play" beats louder and louder.
