Encouraged by Michelle Obama's campaign to reduce childhood obesity, the company that owns the Olive Garden, Red Lobster and four other popular restaurant chains is pledging to cut the calories and sodium in its meals and overhaul its kids' fare.
Darden Restaurants Inc. was unveiling the changes Thursday, with the first lady on hand to lend support.
The company will pledge to reduce the calories and sodium in all its meals by 10 percent over five years, and by 20 percent over 10 years. For children, French fries and sugar-sweetened beverages will become the exception and not the rule....

Bummer. I used to enjoy Olive Garden for a treat. No more. I’m so sick of FLOTUS punishing everyone who can practice moderation just to help piglets such as herself.

Id kinda appreciate it if they would reduce the sodium. I don’t use a lot of salt and most restaurants are way too salty for me. :)

This announcement is disgusting. I guess we’re all just like animals that will eat everything that is put in front of us without thinking. We need someone to control how much is put on the plate. And God help the waitress who gets her hand too close to a patron’s mouth or they might bite it off too.
While they’re at it, they had better take deserts off the menu too. Or have a policy of weighing patrons before they give them a desert menu.

Their Lobster Mac ‘n Cheese is a 1560 calorie side dish. It has so many calories that in NY they always have it as a “special” so that people can order it without having the guilt of reading the calorie count that NYC requires on the menu.
I’d eat health food before patronizing any of these restaurants.
More crony caplitalism.
Companies give us less for the same price and the government tells us that it is for our own good.
