The heavily Democratic NY-9 district
had never sent a Republican to the House...
In what will come as a hideous shock to an ever-more-embattled White House, citizen-patriot Bob Turner -a NY businessman and political novice- has pulled off what could be called the 'upset of the century' in defeating NY Assemblyman Dave Weprin in yesterday's special election... but it's been more that one century that this seat has been all-but owned by the Democrats.
Another pimp-slap for the loathsome Obama regime... the Dems spent heavily and still had their butts handed to them by an underfunded novice in a 3-to-1 Democratic district! What does that tell you about 2012...
Everybody's already calling Bob Turner's big win a "rebuke" of the Obama Administration, and of course it is: particularly the deficit spending and Obama's shameful treatment of Israel. Yet Turner's business sense surely had an appeal these days too, just what we need more of on Capitol Hill. The NY Post described the atmosphere as primarily "angry" (we relate).
Turner was strongly endorsed by Trump, Rudy Giuliani... even former Democratic NY mayor Ed Koch. Assemblyman Weprin's vote in support of gay marriage in NY did nothing to endear him to NY-9's culturally-conservative Orthodox Jews, either- whereas Bob Turner -a 70 yr old Catholic- is a man far more likely to hear their concerns.
That Ground Zero Mosque came up a lot in this special-election campaign too- how bout that. Don't forget, Weiner had delivered monotonous diatribes in defense of this very, very bad idea... doesn't sound like New Yorkers where buying into it. You listening, Michael Bloomburg?
NO SEAT is safe in 2012, libs... we're coming to get you!
Congratulations to Mr Bob Turner -soon to be Rep. Bob Turner (R NY-9): If I were you, sir, I'd clean that Weiner room with bleach (esp. under the desk)... just sayin'.
And hey Anthony- nice job jerky, and no worries: I'm sure history will treat you kindly for losing this ultra-safe-for-two-centuries Dem seat by sending naughty pics to little girls... ha ha ha loser
This one's for YOU, Dems:

The GOP candidate in Nevada won by 22 points in a district which is +5 GOP. So much for the US House being more unpopular than Zero.

TWO HUNDRED YEARS!

NY9 has only gone to a Republican 4 times since the birth of the Republican party in 1854. Four times! and that includes this most recent special election. the last time was Andrew Petersen in 1921.

That frees Wiener up for a presidential run this year (along with Eric Holder) after the dems throw Obama and Biden under the bus; rumor is they already have their “WEINER HOLDER” bumper stickers made up...

And the NY-9th was held by the Republicans as recently as 88 years ago.

I think the Post screwed it up, thx
Corrected on my site... can’t do much here now
It HAS been 90 years since the GOP took the seat, though... for all practices and purposes, ‘forever’

Sadly, it will be a short-lived victory.
New York is losing two Representatives after reapportionment, and this will most likely be one of them.
But it will be nice to have him there for the next year and a half or so.

I’m from the Rockaway peninsula, which is within New York’s 9 district. There are at least six very active democratic clubs scattered throughout the peninsula. There were no Republician clubs at all until very recently, now there is one. What a win!

Zero is toast. The Dems and MSM will now dump him like a hot potato. I have a feeling - no, a strong belief - someone else will represent their party in the 2012 presidential election. Add to all this the Reid response to Obama’s jobs bill.
As fun as it is to laugh at and expose obama for what he is, he is no longer where we should focus our attention. That battle is won. The mop up crew needs to stay behind to clean up hot-spots (take nothing for granted), but we must focus our attention on the next front. We must prepare to fight a different democratic candidate in 2012.

Well here’s the overall GOP picture, assuming the 8.5 point drop for Obama nationwide.
IN/NC/VA/OH/FL all are solid GOP. This means that the GOP is starting from 260. Most of Obama’s incumbancy advantage is gone.
CO/NH/PA/MN/IA/NV are all lean GOP. 2 percent in favour.
That puts the GOP at 307.
New Jersey - tossup
Washington - tossup
Oregon - tossup
Michigan - Tossup
New Mexico - tossup
Wisconsin - tossup
Maine - tossup
If the GOP wins, say: New Jersey, Michigan and Wisconsin, losing ME, NM, OR, WA.
That puts the GOP at 349.
Strong O states: VT and HI. NY is at +6 O, just as strong for Obama as OH is republican.
