Hello everyone. I recently found this site and I enjoy it, though I find it a little difficult to navigate. I would describe myself as a former liberal who outgrew his college education. I look forward to lively discussion, and I would appreciate any tips on using the forum. Thanks.

Great list! Well said and I agree with all of it. To elaborate on '5'.

5) Before you post, read the thread and see if someone else has already shared the same thought. (I post a LOT less than I used to because of this.)

Also check what other people said in response to that similar thought. If you post really late, with a kneejerk off the top of your head thought it is very possibly that others on the thread have already posted counter augments or even completely debunked your thought. So if you are tempted to post on a thread try to catch up on the comments a bit first.

Also, if you are a recent convert to conservatism keep an open mind. What I mean is you will hear some arguments and ideas that to you will still sound really far right and 'out there'. If you are not sure what they mean ask a respectful question and you will probably get some great responses. Judging by your first post we don't have to give the advice of, "Use correct English, punctuation, and capitalization."

I posted “Amish?” and then wrote something like (I don’t really know what it means but FR’s use it a lot). Then I got educated. Same thing with IBTZ and anything involving Moose... Mooses.... Moosie? Your name would indicate spinning is your thing. Could be interesting but never underestimate Freepers. They have sonic ears and eyes.

FR is the best of the net...moderated well and lots of freedom to express. But in doing so others too have that freedom so not uncommon to wear a hard hat when threads get passionate....but stay with it...the rewards are worth it.

Advice:

Don't get in Sarah Palin threads unless you really really love her. There are always nuclear threads around here..North vs South is another one. Amnesty used to be. Race..sometimes.

Don't admit you support Romney if you do and never say you are pro homosexual or pro abortion or a member of National Alliance or something like that..if so you should keep all that off this forum..instant zot for those...though if you qualify for any of that you will likely leave on your own

Ignore Catholic-Prtestant threads unless you like anger.

Ignore zot packs..they are merciless and live for it resist the temptation to join the mob...it can bite you too...the loyalty is only to the BOLT.

IF you stay, you will find that you'll learn to really like somewhere between 20 and maybe even a few hundred posters if you are prolific and about half that many you despise. The rest will just be names you see from time to time. You may even get to know some of us in the real world..which is fun.

You are gonna need very thick skin or be quiet. Be informed but don't expect everyone to be...they will claim they are even if obviously not but being informed is still a leg up over shouting.

You will learn that conservatism is fractured and justice here is subjective.
