The Friday before Labor Day the jobs picture in the country continues to be grim: today’s unemployment report shows absolutely zero job growth, with the unemployment rate staying the same as July at 9.1 percent. This is hardly surprising, given the recent budget updates by both the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office and the White House Office of Management and Budget.
CBO’s August update to its Budget and Economic outlook painted a dismal picture for the United States economy: it requires optimistic economic growth of 2.3 percent just to get unemployment to 8.5 percent by the last quarter of 2012. The economy would have to gain approximately 135,000 jobs each month until the election just to get unemployment to where "stimulus" was supposed to keep it - 7.9 percent.
By the White House’s own admission in its Mid-Session Review released yesterday, the promised jobs surge under the “stimulus” program will not materialize; the unemployment rate will stay above 9 percent for the rest of the year.
If the stagnant employment numbers didn’t edify the folly of the President’s “stimulus” plan, this week the Mercatus Center released a comprehensive study further proving the shortcomings of the Obama jobs agenda. The study, entitled No Such Thing as Shovel Ready, discusses how the trillion dollar debt and spending package amounted to nothing more than a federal slush fund for White House prerogatives...

I would think that in the summer they should have let kids work in the fields, and remove MINIMUM wage laws, letting everyone hire anyone to do anything that pays SOMETHING.
Now that’s the kind of stimulus the Democrats can’t abide.

We are in an EMPLOYMENT DEPRESSION brought on my a bubble crash (mostly caused by Federal governent) and Dems insistence on regulations in stead of reducing jobs.
I was discussing the economy with a liberal last week. She said that the reason that the economy hasn’t turned around was because the stimulus wasn’t big enough. Obviously she has a different perspective than we do. Maybe the reason that the speeches haven’t created jobs is because we need more of them.

The democrat fascists don’t give a rats’ patoot about unemployment as long as it stays below 11%. I recall many a democrat fascist pushing the idea of “intrinsic” unemployment of 9% - 10% all through the seventies and only got off that theme during the second Reagan term. Even then, the regular fascist bigwigs like Tip O’Neil were saying that the improvement in the unemployment numbers was temporary because “everyone knows” that there’s an intrinsic unemployment rate of over 8% built into our evil capitalist system. The “fact” that the government needed to intervene in the economy even came up as part of the rationale for the huge highway bill that was passed and is now largely forgotten. Forgotten by everyone not in line for some of the kickbacks that were included in place of a real highway rebuilding plan, that is.
