Remember when we used to hear horror stories about how organized prayer was banned at public events held in communist countries like the former Soviet Union?
Well, welcome to 21st Century Amerika, comerades, courtesy of NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg!
It should bring great comfort to those terrorists who played a role in creating the 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City that Mayor Michael Bloomberg has banned the participation of all religious groups in the 10-year anniversary memorial services held at ground zero. Hes also barring political speeches.
A spokesman for the mayor said, The mayor insists that the ceremonies should focus on the families of those killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center.
News Flash for the mayor: My guess is every victim of the attack and their family members, along with the vast majority of those of us who watched the horror unfold prayed to our God in our own way on September 11th, 2001 and its my guess that prayer would bring as much comfort to these families today as it did then. But God Bloomberg forbid we should allow the anniversary to include an organized approach to a non-denominational group prayer at ground zero itself.
In the days after the attack, then-mayor Rudy Giuliani held an interfaith service at Yankee Stadium. There was no problem and no great organized protest. We went there en-masse to mourn together
and to begin the healing process together.
And it worked...

Bloomberg is such a moron. I heard him on the radio yesterday advising the people to make what is “known as a ‘Go bag’.” The “wind bag” described a ‘go bag’ as something you should have ready if you have to leave in a hurry. The boy is brilliant. What would we do without the nannystaters?

Bloomberg epitomizes everything disgusting about NYC, the reasons so many Americans hate the place.

One could call Michael Bloomberg a “rectal orfice”, but that is to slander all the other rectal orfices out there.
He is a curious hodgepodge of prejudices, economic theories, and wrongly placed priorities. Were he not protected by an inordinate amount of cash, he would be recognized for the raving madman he is.

Although I'm no fan of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg I can go along with the 'ban' on political speeches at the 9/11 memorial service. But no prayers? That is ridiculous. I assume Bloomie wants to avoid Muslims requesting to offer a prayer to 'Allah' during the memorial service and the uproar that might generate back and forth whether he approved or rejected it so he took the cowards way out and 'banned' all prayers from the ceremony. However, I understand that dozens of Muslims were killed in the 9/11 attack and although I'm very critical of Islamic inroads into American society due to Islams incompatibility with western civilizations values, I could tolerate a Muslim prayer at the 9/11 memorial and I believe a majority of Americans could do the same. A slightly awkward moment, for sure, but it could be done with dignity, focusing on the people lost in the attack that were Muslim and nothing else. The prayer could be vetted for propriety, if necessary, although this might generate some resentment from the Islamists. Too bad. The 9/11 memorial is about the innocent souls that died in that man-made catastrophe and we don't need a lot of bickering back and forth about it. Still, Bloomberg could have handled it better. Banning prayer is just stupid and will be strongly resisted, I'm sure, as it should.

Nope, I bet not. I think he’s actually doing this so that he can ban imams from the site without being called islamophobic. It’s the coward’s way out for him.

Just where in the heck does this cretin Bloomberg get the power to block freedom speech and religion.
I would like to light a big cigar in front of him and blow the smoke in his face.
He probably will have me arrested for an assassination attempt.

Just out of curiosity, what is stopping us from getting together and going down there and having a nice big prayer service? I’m good to go. And hell, Sept. 11th is my birthday.

He wants to ban all religious groups but he can't ban Father Mychal Judge. He was the former Chaplin of the New York City Fire Department and who died in the North Tower and who's body bag was labeled "Victim 0001".
