Over the past couple of months Rick Perry has been considering a run for POTUS. As of Saturday, August 13, hes in with both feet.
Since hes been Governor of Texas for over ten years, folks from the other 56 states are asking Texans what kind of governor hes been and what we think. I decided that what I think isnt good enough I could be wrong. So, I decided to do some research on Perrys record and form a more accurate, fact-based opinion on his qualifications instead of relying on my general perceptions.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I voted for Perry in each of the three gubernatorial elections since 2002 and I am a conservative and a registered Republican. It was easy for me to vote for Perry since the alternative(s) were either uber-RINOs in the primaries or liberal Democrats in the general elections. Under the circumstances, my choice was always easy.
While researching Perrys pros and cons, Ive read every article and blog post that I could find over several weeks. Many of those posts had 2-300 comments associated with them I read them all.
After reading literally thousands of comments, its become apparent that there are quite a lot of anti-Perry activists out there throwing all sorts of disparaging rhetorical crap against the wall in hopes that some will stick and they can influence someone, anyone, to become anti-Perry too. The unfortunate thing is that most of their negative statements are either completely false, at worst, or misleading, at best.

I was in the mix with the Rudy purge. I would say that the Rudy-haters were WAY over the top and they were often answered in kind. To those of us who lived in NYC during his years as mayor, we were constantly frustrated by FReepers who were quoting the left-wing journalist Wayne Barrett as if he was Talmud. It was so difficult having Virginians and Texans raging at me that Rudy was not a good mayor and did nothing for the city, when I was living there and saw the results of his years as mayor. There was one person, in particular, who kept reporting me over and over again to the mods. She’s still here as am I. The King of FR at the time - and a Rudy supporter - was a really annoying guy who went by the name of Mad Ivan. After years of being sucked up to by other FReepers, he was finally kicked off. He started a dissident site which went no where.
It’s for that reason I’m upset that anyone would start mulling over calling in the mods and/or the owner. Free speech for thee but not for me!
Just teasin’ ya.
Good answer though.
I support Perry...yes, I do. But the reason good eminent domain was passed and signed was because of Texas Farm Bureau and a large association of land owners i.e. farmers and ranchers. Farm Bureau is a stalwart for the Republican Party...and this last governor's election they would NOT endorse Perry because of this. It shocked Perry. This is why Perry allowed it in the first legislation session...and it was passed and signed in Feb. 2011. So Farm Bureau and Perry buried the hatchet. The land owners and Farm Bureau were at the signing of that legislation. [I might add that the Houston Medical Center was taking steps to use eminent domain to expand the medical center...and with this new legislation that was also stopped.]

I know. I’m one of them.
I never ask JimRob to stop the negs coming out against Perry. I only commented about it. Especially after several threads I was on that were negative bs against Perry were pulled. I thought oh my...is this beginning like with the Rudy dump.
Houston Chronicle...oh one of the most liberal rags around...don’t think so. I haven’t wasted my money in years on the Chronicle...thanks...but no thanks...
