Nothing wrong with your post, the thing you'll learn is that there are just as many conservatives that refuse to face the truth as there are liberals who refuse to face the truth. The last month on the FR has been really interesting, especially the Sarah supporters and so forth. I've long said the Republicans were basically like the Democrats, ie, Globe Trotters vs Generals, and now I know why, the base is the same way, all emotion, little truth testing ...

Perhaps your idea of what an open border means and my idea are not equivalent. We have an “open border” with Canada. People, as well as goods, cross that border every day, and I do not hear any clamor for building a fence along the U.S./Canada border. Respectfully, you have made an assumption that “Open” must mean that there are no controls whatsoever. I have NEVER suggested this.

Reagan agreed to “Amnesty” believing the dimocRATS would keep to their word of that act being a one-time-only agreement, and that the problems with the border would be addressed. The dimocRATS lied. Reagan admitted that the “Amnesty” program was a mistake. So, my question to you is, “What is your point”?

Most of the time when a Freeper posts a drink sodden reply that is full of grammar errors and makes no sense, they accuse the other person of being the one drinking. Really? Because the way I see it, this cycle's Perry-bots are no different from the Rudy-bots or McCainiacs of yore. Perry is a transparent bought-off OBL shill. They do as well from mexico. Most of it legally.

There is a reason for that. The people from Canada are worlds apart fromt eh people 'south of the border'. As in - respectful of our laws, are fully civilized and westernized. Compare that to the majority that cross the southern border.

I guess you better clarify. "Open" to me means without control. What is your interpretation?

My interpretation is a border in which people and goods are permitted to legally move across - which, I believe, was the intent of Gov. Perry’s comments as I understood them.

Oh, and this would be as opposed to a “closed” border in which no one moves across the border without first being stopped, searched, interrogated, investigated, etc (such as what happens on borders in Israel. My understanding is that Perry would like to see a border where these constraints are not needed - where people abide by the laws of both countries. At the present time this does not exist on our southern border. But, I find no reason for people not to work towards that goal.

How about the threat posed by muslim terrorists? Do you think we will one day live in harmony with those who want you dead? If not, how do you propose we have them cross w/o first being stopped, searched, interrogated, investigated, etc?

Just the thought of an open southern border is absurd. We live in a world that requires we protect our borders, be it from muslim terrorists or Juan and Maria coming here from Mexico so Maria can have her kid on the US taxpayer dime. To think otherwise is either insanity or political pandering neither of which is desirable in a presidential candidate.
