Dear Mr. Buffett:
I've never thought of you as helpless and I am not now enjoying the mental image of you publicly whining about your plight in The New York Times.
Quit complaining that you only paid $6,938,744 in federal taxes last year. After all, it's your own fault. You've spent zillions through the years paying CPAs and tax lawyers to help you and your companies avoid the very taxes you now complain isn't enough. Just recently you sheltered billions, literally billions, with the Gates Foundation rather than paying estate and capital gains taxes. Does your hypocrisy know no shame?
Even with that, all is not lost! Go ahead, pull out your checkbook and write a big one. A really big one. Make it out for all the taxes you've avoided paying the last forty years or so. The easiest way to determine the right amount is to take your total income over the years and multiply that figure by whatever tax rate you believe "the wealthy" ought to be paying today to carry "their fair share" of the burden.
Go ahead, man, for your own dignity, man up!
But please, quit the damn whining.
Thomas Jefferson:
“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.”
It’s ironic that Buffet, a big supporter of Obammie the Commie, who wants to punish those who give to charity, gives so much charity to the Gates foundation.
Hey, Warren. If you really want to pay higher taxes, just write a check, for the full amount that you give to the Gates foundation. After all, the government can spend that money a whole lot better than the civilians, right?
If Buffie is so desperate to pay higher taxes..why doesn’t he just write a check.
The “check” will be written from them to him. He will be
rewarded well for his leftist propaganda. Look how well it
works for Soros.
“If Buffie is so desperate to pay higher taxes..why doesnt he just write a check.”
Not to the government. He has a lot of money. He’s a proven creative guy. He must have ideas on where to spend money to help society.
It must be against his nature to let someone else, especially our government, decide where his money should go. Therefore, he doesn’t mean he should personally give more of his own money to the government. He actually means that the rest of us should give more of our money to the government.
If he’s afraid they’ll just waste it instead of paying down debt, he could buy $5 billion in Treasury bills, haul them in a big truck to College Station, Texas and throw them in the Aggies’ big bonfire!
Which makes me think, maybe a bunch of folks could by a few T-bills, make a big ceremony of burning them and invite Buffett to step up to the plate.
The Democrats are right we need a new tax bracket for the likes of Buffet, Siros, Gates and a few others. Nobody needs more than $100 million.
Warren, it’s the spending, stupid.
How very noble of you to decide what other people need or don't need. I am sure you would have no problem having someone else deciding what you need or don't need, especially after you have earned it. Actually we do have those kinds of people - they are called liberals.
