Howdy to the Texas FReepers. It hit me this morning that this country is really really screwed. Our Government takes in around 180 billion a month and borrows 120 billion to get up to it's 300 billion in expenditures. They are intentionally driving the country over a cliff and fast. Not sure if this will look like Argentina or Chile.
I'm thinking that Texas is a safe harbor to get my wife and kids through this once it all falls. I'm looking at being near a metro area like Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, or Austin (I know the libs congregate there tho). I don't really like living in big cities, my wife is a small-town gal, but I like to be close for the amenities, as well it gives me a better customer base to do business with. No more than 40 minutes to a hour out. If you would be so kind, any input, pros or cons on the mentioned area are greatly appreciated!
Maybe a little farther south, Mexico, many Americans are moving in around Lake Chapala, Guadalajara.
I don’t know what size customer base you require, but personally I like San Antonio or Corpus Christi areas. Any of the cities you mentioned do have nice areas 40 minutes or so away though. We can always use more conservatives here!
You are more than welcome to come to the Lone Star state. I live in east Texas, two hours east of Dallas. I travel extensively for business. If I were to move and I had to rank the selections you gave, I would go with
1. Austin
2. Dallas
3. San Antonio
4. Houston
We have no state income tax and a healthy economy. Texas has everything you could want in the way of culture, geography, education, business, etc. I love living here. Feel free to email me privately for more specific questions/info.
Do they still speak English there or do they do it like here in L.A “eh, me no habla..”
For business purposes, DFW or Houston would probably be best. The city dwellers are mostly libs, but if you go to the outskirts, people are quite conservative. Ft. Bend County, TX (Sugar Land area) or Katy, TX are a couple places in the Houston Area you might want to look at. The Woodlands area north of Houston is nice too. Similar conservative enclaves exist around the DFW area as well.
Try Katy TX
IMO, any thing less is going to land you in liberal country.
What happened to that huge Mosque that the Texas farmer
(pig races) was fighting to prevent it from being built in Katy?
Corpus Christi just sent to Congress a Tea Party candidate Brent Farenthold.
AND, if you’re thinkin’ up here in North Texas...better to be nearer to Fort Worth than Dallas. Again, IMHO, Fort Worth is a hell of lot more genuine than Dallas.
Look at Granbury or Aledo...just west, southwest of Fort Worth. Lots of areas north of Dallas (McKinney, Allen, Melissa). Great place to live

Laid back attitude, can-do spirit, close enough to DFW airport, Sundance Square, and all without the pretentiousness of Dallas. :)
My daughter moved to Houston from San Diego last April, and is finding it hard to get out and meet people other than her co-workers. She's 35, single, no kids, doesn't like the bar scenes and a little homesick right now.
She loves Texas, tho, and is glad to be out of CA.
Come to Comal County, north of San Antonio. Good people, conservative with beautiful land. Good schools, too. We do have libs moving in from all over, and our fair share of RINO’s. We could use even more conservatives. The county has wide open country, still.
I don’t think he is considering any of the urban areas, but rather conservative enclaves near the urban areas.
