(How do you know Rick Perrys lying? Well, you know the joke. Watch his lips move and see who he remind you of.) They say first impressions are lasting ones. And if youve been following my comments on the potential 2012 Republicans presidential field, you know that my first impression of most of them is that they are either boobs or frauds.
There is one contender who does not meet that definition. Texas Congressman Ron Paul is neither a boob nor a fraud. Hes the only Republican in the field who has been a consistent adherent to the constitution during his entire political career. If theres a genuinely conservative candidate from Texas , why do we need a fake one? That would be Rick Perry. I judged him a fraud the moment I saw him speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February, when he had the misfortune of following Paul.
Heres what I wrote at the time:
Afterer Ron we got a speech by Texas Governor Rick Perry. He gave a good spiel about economic growth in Texas , but then he got on to border security. It was a nice tirade against Obama for not enforcing the borders. But how dishonest do you have to be not to note that George W. Bush had eight years to secure the borders?
Thats how dishonest Rick Perry is.
Its also a good indication of how liberal George W. Bush was. Bush was the biggest advocate of open immigration ever to occupy the White House. He was also the biggest advocate of liberal internationalism. And the biggest spender - till Barack Obama.
But back to Perry. When he gave that spiel he had to know Obama was doing a much better job on enforcing the borders than Bush.

ABSOLUTELY INDEED.
The oligarchy insures that.
Paul Mulshine needs to sober up.
Bush was a HORRIBLE President! I will never forget when he was being interviewed and was asked, ‘80% of the American public want to stem illegal immigration and a have a secure border’. Bush replied with, ‘well the American people are just wrong’. I guess he forgot who elected him. He was also against declaring English the official language of the US.
I’ve read Bush’s speech to the Building Industry Association and his contention was to support housing for those that could not afford a house. Therefore he continued the disastrous housing crisis that was started under the Clinton administration.
GW was also a big proponent of the New World Order just like his Dad.
GW also started a very controversial war based on false foreign intelligence.
We may have gotten a paltry tax cut but what we mainly got was a moderate(liberal) Republican and ultimately we paid dearly for his reign with Obama getting elected.
Please, don’t start quoting Scripture. It makes people think of moonbattery.
“see you at the bill signing”.
Depends on the measure being used.
Actually, the Bush Administration warned us about Fannie and Freddie. So did Alan Greenspan. So did John McCain, for that matter. So if you didn’t heed the warnings, look in the mirror, instead of finding someone else to blame.
You and Obama seem to agree, it’s Bush’s fault.
I tend to agree with that. If we end up with another pro amnesty RINO or two, we won't have to worry about RINO's anymore. Because there will be no more Republican party. The huge Democratic voting block - fueled by illegals - will send the Republican party the way of the Whig Party.
I would like to add that he cut taxes and thus stimulated the economy, but the GOP's poor, demonrat-like handling of the budget negated the benefit from those cuts and trashed what was left of the GOP's reputation for fiscal conservatism.
Nice post. IMHO, Bush II was the last president who had the chance to turn this country around. Instead, he made things worse.
Sure, he has 9/11 to cope with, and that made his job so much more difficult. And I’m sure he had the best of intentions. But the bottom line is that he failed on almost every front. And much of that is now nearly irreversible.
What a curious assaultive thing to say to the Christians who--by a VERY HUGE MARGIN--mostly populate and mostly fund FREEREPUBLIC.COM.
In other words . . . to put it more plainly for those in Rio Linda and the regions of the willfully blind, deaf and dumb . . .
Also, I'm certain God is very impressed with anyone's brilliance who assigns references to
ALMIGHTY GOD'S WORD
AS "moonbattery."
How's your insurance against lightening bolts?
However, in response to your request . . . here's a few ref's:

I just wanted to be certain that if I was going to be accused of being a moonbat for quoting Scripture, that there was sufficient evidence for a clear case.
I suspect that he had to do a lot of what he did to stay alive and keep his immediate family alive.
How much he agreed with what he was ordered to do, I don’t know. I like to think not much.
That may be my own fantasy with little foundation for it. Time and eternity will tell.
You sum it up beautifully.Schrub was just another elite from the ruling class.NO MORE!
Bush did three great things: rallied the country after 9/11 and kept Gore and Kerry out of the White House.
I agree. He also had the intelligence on 0bama and could have exposed him for what he is: An avowed enemy of the United States. For not doing that, Bush broke his oath of office. To protect and defend the constitution....from enemies without and within. But he did not.
It’s all about bringing on The New World Order.
“Stupid editorial that ignores Bushs tax cuts, ban on partial birth abortion, and deployment of our national missile defenses only to idiotically kvetch about spending that was less than half of 0bama.”
YES - and which is this supposed to be, anyway - an opinion piece on Rick Perry or a blind tribute to Ron Paul (against whom all others pale in the author’s myopic eyes)????
Horse hockey. I can’t even imagine what this country would be like today, if either Al Gore or John Kerry had defeated George W. Bush. Maybe GWB wasn’t as conservative as some might have liked, but people who claim he was liberal are just being plain silly.
“”Actually, the Bush Administration warned us about Fannie and Freddie.””
Gezzz...
Here’s Bush in a speech pushing home loans for totally unqualified minorities.
