During his Presidential campaign and in the campaign to institute Obamacare Barack Obama repeatedly referred to his mother's inability to get health insurance and having to fight for payments.
“For my mother to die of cancer at the age of 53 and have to spend the last months of her life in the hospital room arguing with insurance companies because they’re saying that this may be a pre-existing condition and they don’t have to pay her treatment, there’s something fundamentally wrong about that.”

There probably is nothing modern medicine could have done about that, it was caught late and thats a hard cancer to diagnose. I do remember the last six months of her life, insurance companies threatening that they would not reimburse her for her costs. And her having to be on the phone in the hospital arguing with insurance companies when what she should have been doing is spending time with her family.”
There is a problem with this.
A book by Janny Scott, “A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mother,” discloses that Ann Dunham was not denied health insurance or payment for her cancer treatment.
Dunham was denied only disability insurance, based on the terms of the contract. Obama has most definitely allowed people to think that his mother was denied payment for her treatments.
Robert J. Blendon, a professor of health policy and political analysis at Harvard, said that if an alternate narrative about Ms. Dunham’s dispute had been discovered during the 2008 campaign “people would have considered it a significant error.” He added: “I just took for granted that it was a pre-existing condition health insurance issue.”
What grates on those of us in the health care profession is the constant and dishonest haranguing of insurance companies by disingenuous people like Barack Obama. The insurance company- Cigna in this case- was only honoring the terms of the contract as contracted by Dunham's employer.
And what grates us even more is the sheer dishonesty of Barack Obama. And that dishonesty pervades the entire administration.

Obama is liberal. Obama lied to further a liberal political agenda. The MSM will not pursue this story.
If a Republican had told such a story, it would be a major issue. But since Obama is a good Democrat, nothing will be made of this in the MSM.

I’m no fan of Obama, but I think saying he lied is a bit strong. He doesn’t strike me as particularly detail oriented, and he does strike me as someone who jumps to conclusions and believes what he wants to believe. My take is that he remembers his mother as having had hassles with an insurance company in her last months. He never focused on the fact that it was disability insurance as opposed to health care coverage, and somehow (mis)remembered the conflict as being about a pre-existing condition. Sloppy thinking that slams an industry he dislikes, yes. Lie - I doubt it.
The kind of guy that cooks up death panels for Grandma.

You’ve got to realize that he says whatever, whenever for both psychological and political advantage. Just the other day he said he’d be turning 50 in a week, when his alleged birthday is three weeks away. He can’t help embellishing (or just possibly his birth info is false)!

He was an attorney designated by his mother has representing him in that particlar matter. Not just any attorney, but the former Editor of the Harvard Law Review.
When debating McCain in 2008 and repeatedly, he claimed the insurance company was denying payment FOR TREATMENT.
She acquired her disability policy AFTER she saw a doctor who surmised that she may have uterine cancer. The policy provided that if treated for a condition during that period, there would be no disability coverage FOR LOST INCOME. So, guess what a coverage dispute arose.
For Obama to have misrepresented as he clearly did the circumstances of an insurance dispute involving his own mother’s death but not involving the coverage issues in Obamacare, is more than adequate distortion and conscious misleading that under other factual circumstances would be grounds for a criminal fraud conviction.
Why should voters give him a pass and repress the logical conclusion that he is an habitual liar, e.g. 80% of Americans support his deficit limit tax raising plans?

I'd like to doubt it, too; but based on the rest of his record, I can't. He will parrot any lie ordered by the puppetmaster Soros.
