Don’t Call My Bluff? Huh?
Powerline ^ | July 14, 2011 | John Hinderaker

Tonight’s big news story is President Obama pushing back against Republicans who refuse to be intimidated by him: “Don’t call my bluff,” Obama says, by passing a short-term debt limit increase, which Obama says he will veto.

It is a small point, but the Obama quote that the wire services are trumpeting makes no sense. If, in fact, he is bluffing, the Republicans should by all means call his bluff. Properly, Obama should be warning the GOP that he is not bluffing. Saying “don’t call my bluff” is the opposite of what Obama presumably means, sort of like saying that one “could care less” about something. It is a small point, and probably a meaningless one, but one more illustration of the fact that Obama’s vaunted verbal facility is, in fact, mediocre at best.

A lot of people around here are making a big deal of this. I think it’s just his way of saying to Cantor “Don’t assume I’m bluffing and think that you can call my bluff.”

I’m starting to get the feeling that Obama’s crazy. I’ve been following politics since the Nixon administration and the only period more crazy was Nixon just before he resigned. Brack is that far over the edge.

It’s comforting to know that our elected leaders have been meeting everyday for what amounts to them as a poker game.

Republican leaders need to take to the airwaves, NOW.
Buy the airtime and newspaper pages if they have to.
Tell the American people the truth before Obama hits back with NBC-CBS-ABC-CNN-MSNBC-NYT-WP, etc.

If he meant to say, "I'm not bluffing" then this is yet another gaffe.

Many more Obama gaffes here

Actually, considering 'murican is his third language, he does pretty well if he has a teleprompter.

I’m starting to get the feeling that Obama’s crazy.

Me too...and I am serious. OK...seriously...it is STILL really bothering be DEEP INSIDE wht he signed that book in England 2008.

You either do that 1) On purpose or 2) Because you are mentally ill.

I mean...IT REALLY BOTHERS ME. It has become a nagging question for me. It's easy to make fun of...but all kidding aside...I think it really deserves a serious answer from these morons...and nobody will ask them.

I understood that 0bama reinforced his threat to “go to the people” was in fact not a bluff.

In 0bama’s Community Agitator world, this means calling up his ACORN and SEIU lackeys to launch marches, protests, sit-ins, parades, etc.

These tatics were used to great effect (1990 to 2007) to force Banks to write mortgages to people with no hope to pay back the debt. Banks got rolled in order to grow and maintain peace.

We all saw the same tactics deployed in Wisconsin.

Of course, the compliant corrupt media will amplify the small ACORN efforts, and inflict tremendous Political harm onto the Conservatives.

I think that would be Senators Mitch’s greatest fear.

The antidote would need to be the New Media reporting on the Tea Party rally’s.

Thoughts?

Don’t wait for a breakdown. Crazy folks don’t have that kind of mechanism in their haids.

I've been saying since day One that I believed he was on some kind of psyoctic drugs to keep him under control...to keep him functioning at a reasonable level.

I believe the monitor necessary speeches help keep his whirling brain straight.

Look what happens otherwise...His behavior becomes erratic...like signing the wrong year (2008) in the British Guest Book.

This storming incident....Stupid statements like eat your peas...

I believe he is getting worse.

It’s no big deal but it does illustrate, once again, that with out his teleprompter, the one cannot think.

Squeeze him until his Islamic Socialism oozes from every pore on his body. Squeeze him until Howard Dean's meltdown looks like a whimper. Squeeze him until his buddies Ayers, Dorn, Stern, Trumpka, Wright, Waters, Cummings, Jackson, Jackson-Lee and all the other race baiters scream discrimination and finally discredit themselves into oblivion. Squeeze him until his suppoters like Chavez, Castro, Putin, Zelaya and the rest go to the UN crying crocodile tears for their dear Comrade President. Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. Squeeze until he puts pen to paper and delineates his spending cuts. Squeeze until he realizes that he lost in 2010, will lose in 2012 and has set back the socialist utopian dream for at least 20 years or until Freedom and Liberty overcome any chance of those damnable systems ever finding rest in this nation. Squeeze till he blows his arrogance, ignores the teleprompter, and declares himself to be the one who decides what is best for this country. Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze.

If W. had said, “Don’t call my bluff” the press would have skewered him.
