Cato Institute Senior Fellow Dan Mitchell explains how the left will attempt to raise taxes on American families and small businesses: The real threat is back-door hikes resulting from the elimination and/or reduction of so-called tax breaks. The big spenders on the left are being very clever about this effort, appealing to anti-spending and pro-tax reform sentiments by arguing that it is important to get rid of tax expenditures and spending in the tax code...

Take this article and others I found to the fight to the Libs on their own turf; put the Left on the defensive at at Digg and at Reddit and at Stumbleupon and Delicious
down is up now. raising taxes is now cutting spending.
The term “tax expenditure” is one of the foulest and most reprehensible linguistic tricks in the left wing political lexicon.
No Republican should let that phrase be uttered publicly by any Democrat without throwing it back in his or her face with withering ridicule. It should be a standard part of the Republican playbook to so discredit that language that no Democrat will dare use it.
No word demonstrates the slimy dishonesty of the liberal agenda better than “Tax Expenditure.”
And while they’re at it, Republicans need to remind American taxpayers that “if you’re not getting a tax cut, you’re getting a pay cut.”
The corruption of the left knows no bound, and it starts with their orwellian language.
To the left any money you get to keep is a tax break, because they believe that ALL the money belongs to the state to start with.
This creeping marxism is steadly making inroads into our collective mindset.
According to the Democrats government spending is “investing”. When the government does not confiscate ALL of your property you are “receiving” a subsidy or a handout.
- revenue
- investment
- fee
- revenue neutral
yet, when a budget is 100k and they ask for 150k and get 120k, it's a”tax cut”.
They always find some weasle-words to use to obfuscate what their real intentions are.
I say let’s agree to eliminate some carve-outs, starting with GE, nonprofits, unions and other friends of Obama.
