What’s happened to this guy? I’m not sure I completely agreed with his father’s theology, but he was still a good man who clearly loved Christ and America. He is to his father as Non Reagan is to his.
People who don't have these delusions tend to support limited government and the freedom of each and every individual to define themselves and make their own way in the world. Liberals are highly overrepresented by those who think they are special and capable of running other people's lives. In reality all they are really capable of is ruining other people's lives. The author of this piece needs a dose of reality.
“Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Vatican City and the state of Israel come to mind.”
Three of these things are not like the others,
Three of these things just don’t belong.
Can you tell which are not like the others
by the time that I finish this song?
Isn’t this the doofus who’s trying to show mommy and daddy he’s his own big man by “embracing the paradox and mystery of Orthodox Christianity?” (wikipedia)
Which means he knows nothing and is proud of the fact.
Francis Schaeffer’s son.....sigh....this apple fell far from the tree. His father was brilliant, and a brilliant writer and Christian apologist, his son is just another whackjob liberal.
>>Put it this way; the Rockies don’t know theyre part of an “exceptional” country and the Negev desert doesn’t know it was “given” to anyone! Nor do the sands of Medina know that theyre “holy”
They’re rocks and dirt. They don’t know anything. Does the author really think that the world would be a better place if no one had a hope of everlasting life or the possibility of a hereafter, and the only reason to be nice to anyone was because they had the ability to inflict violence on you? Because, even if there was no God, the religion impulse in humans is the only thing that keeps us from killing each other.
“He, She or It”
God as a transgendered whatever? Woodrow wilson was a progressive. No better than the marxist “liberation theolgy” in Catholicism, or “black liberation theology” ala so-called rev.wright.
If there is no Creator, then it doesn’t matter what you do. Right and wrong are just how it affects you.
And including the USA, Israel, and Vatican City together with Pakistan and Iran as the “far right” is nonsensical, illogical, and dishonest. It is an insult to the first three, and to the “far right”.
Whatever Woodrow Wilson’s religion, it didn’t keep him from cattin’ around with the women.
His religion was progressivism.
This is so idiotic I don’t even know where to start.
How about the equating of the Islamic Iran and Christian America?
Or that the right wants to replace the Bill of Rights with a Bible? I mean, what has this man been smoking? The left even admits its the one that wants to change the Constitution, while the right reveres it.
He needs a serious dose of reality.
This piece going out of it's way to make parallels that ‘fundamentalism’ is the culprit that created Stalin, Mao, etc. is a bit tasteless actually. Let's just gloss over the tens of millions that these despots killed and blame it on the Presbyterian Wilson for making them do that! childish banter.
“Is this Dick Durban’s speechwriter?”
Exceeding unlikely.
More probable is that author managed to escape when the door to his locked ward was left ajar.
That “author” considers America one of the great “troublemaker nations”? ? ? ?
Not only is he out of his rubber room, he neglected to take his meds before he left.
Who is this guy who is so ignorant of history that he would make comments like this?
“What did Wilsons religious idealism actually achieve? Germanys loss of World War One led to the rise of Hitler, and the Second World War. Wilson picked sides between two equally tarnished nationalistically-inspired colonial contenders and weighed in. So Wilson set the stage for the rise of Hitler and World War Two. With no World War Two there would be no Israel because there would have been no holocaust. Zionism would have simply become a forgotten quirk. And there would have been no Cold War either, maybe not even a Soviet Union.”
This is so ignorant that it needs no further comment.
Mr. Schaeffer—none of your comments have any value for a rational discussion, because the metric of logic you use is the chaotic scale of relativism. Relativism holds that there is no absolute truth either factually or morally.
Relativism brings what seems like a great degree of intellectual freedom, because it allows you to support a particular position today with all your heart and soul, and then throw it out with the garbage tomorrow. Within the sphere of relativism, you don’t have to be accountable. This is why liberals are so hypocritical.
But the ultimate cost of relativism is that in the sphere of rational thought—which is larger than that of relativism—you have no ground on which to stand. No absolute premises. Without premise, logic never starts.
So your fate is that of all leftists—you have denied youself access to rational discourse.
's true. Even his wife knows it.
BTW, on account of the discoveries at Göbekli Tepe, a site in Turkey with buried 12,000 year old stone carvings of a religious nature, it is now believed that RELIGION came first, and then civilization and agriculture.
Earlier, before these discoveries, the standard party line was that religion came on the scene only after people had an agricultural surplus and settled living conditions. Yet, here in Turkey it's pretty obvious nomads had religion ~
Without religion, and faith, there is no civilization!
I think that Francis Schaffer may have not been a good father, and becoming a liberal was his son Frank’s way of retaliation.
Cheers!
