There are those who love freedom of expression, as long as its not conservatives who are doing the expressing. Just ask Glenn Beck. On radio Tuesday, he told the stunning story of how he and his family were harassed during an outdoor movie in New York Citys Bryant Park.
For those unfamiliar with Bryant Park, it hosts weekly showings of classic films during the summer months. Attendees bring blankets and picnic dinners and sprawl out on the parks great lawn while watching the films on a giant screen.
As Beck explained, he attended Monday nights public showing of Alfred Hitchcocks The 39 Steps with his wife and daughter. During the film, he was ridiculed, had someone kick a cup of wine on his wife and on his blanket, and even witnessed another person stand up and yell, We hate conservatives here!
These people were some of the most hateful people I have ever seen, Beck said. All I wanted to do is go out on a blanket with my family and have dinner in the afternoon sun and sit around Americans, not like-minded Americans, and just watch a movie in the park. And last night at about‑‑ when the movie was just about over, my wife and I got out because it was hostile.
Later, when Beck left near the end of the movie, the crowd applauded.

I’m betting that his description is dead-on.
Living in the ‘deep-blue’ I get treated to this sort of thing all the time. The difference is that I (and the folks I associate with) don’t back down.
But then, unlike Beck, I no longer have to worry about the safety of my kids in these sorts of situations.
Just finished it - and if we allow the mobs to lead us down the same path as France, we’re finished too.
You are dead on here. I used to spend a lot of time in Manhattan after Rudy cleaned the city up. New Yorkers are loud and opinionated just on sports alone. Then you have Glenn roll in there to a venue that would attract all the art house Libs and lay on an American flag blanket and not expect verbal abuse and harassment? There are things you just don’t do if you want a trouble free day. Like going into Harlem at night 30 years ago.
He’s been working in NYC. Kind of hard to live elsewhere unless he commuted a long distance.
Compassionate liberals, you gotta love them. Or not.
My mare was Abe Beame.
A video of this event could have gone viral...
Have you seen the pictures? Big American flag blanket in Bryant Park. He did absolutely nothing to tone down his attendance there. No hat. No glasses. Nothing. In broad daylight. I vote for the “looking for trouble” opinion. It’s not like Glenn hasn’t been known for stirring the pot.

Beck should have ripped the socialist crowd with a Samuel Adams quote:
“Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you,
and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
I agree. He no doubt had a cell phone with him. He should have attempted to record something to back up the allegations.
My nickname for him is 'Drama Queen'
Wow. That name brings up all sorts of memories. All bad. Ed Koch seemed like a genius compared to that loser.
You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Wait until the full impact of looming budget cuts starts to hit home with them.
Just awful, he sat on a flag blanket at an outdoor event. And how dare he wasn’t incognito! /s. The least he could have done was wear a wig or placed down a rainbow blanket. Maybe if he wore pencil jeans? Or a Che shirt. /s. That is nuts if you think he did something wrong, can’t believe you actually believe what you wrote. Are you sure you believe in freedom?
to me it sounds a little bit like what goes around comes around. He gets on the radio and goes off on those he doesn’t agree with. People that don’t agree with him go off on him...except they don’t have a radio mike. Not saying it’s right, it isn’t. Just saying, you live by the sword you die by the sword. Don’t come crying when it comes back around. It should be expected so plan accordingly.
This sort of thing happens when you are a well known conservative entertainer. Especially in the middle of Libtard USA. Thats probably why Beck is moving to Texas.
Not to worry though when the SHTF the libs in NYC (and every other city) will be in the first die off as most of them probably don’t have an extra can of chili in the pantry. The law of natural selection will thin the progressive herd.
These lefties should get on their knees and kiss Rudy’s ass that they are even able to sit out in a park in the City and watch a movie without getting mugged or hounded by drug dealers or insane homeless people. And they should thank Staten Islanders, because if it wasn’t for the voters of Staten Island, there would never have been a Mayor Giuliani.
