Enough is Enough (Vanity)
Right Side of My Brain ^ | 06-14-2011 | Parksstp

Posted on 06/14/2011 4:20:58 PM PDT by parksstp

Okay Folks, Enough is Enough!

I have enjoyed participating in this forum for a long time because I enjoy supporting the conservative values people like JimRob, the Tea Party, and other decent Americans hold dear to. It's obvious we are in the fight of our lives for the long-term survival of this country. 2012 is clearly a major turning poing that could very well decide whether or not America survives.

Because of this importance, it is paramount we select the right candidate, the true conservative that will stand with us on all the conservative specturms (social, economic, domestic, and foreign policy). We absolutely cannot settle for another RINO or Democrat-lite candidate.

Many people here have been passionate in support of "their" candidate. Others have expressed gloom and doom with no hope of survival. Still others have taken the "my candidate or nothing" road. I want to address these.

Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum (listed alphabetically). All of these individuals have strong conservative credentials, and based on what I know, I would feel comfortable and empowered with supporting any of them in a general election against Obama. Nobody is ever perfect, but these four individuals have shown time and time again that they have the character and the heart to direct the country in the "right" direction.

That being said, I have become alarmed and disheartened at the amount of attacks generated against these folks by posters on this board claiming to be conservative. I have seen Michele Bachmann absolutely brutalized for one reason or another, being labeled a "phony, stalking-horse, RINO, inexperienced, unintelligent". I have also seen Herman Cain get hammered as an "Establishment guy, Anti-2nd Amendment, TARP loving RINO". And some people just can't let the whole Santorum/Spector thing rest. It's like many posters for whatever reason want to turn reality on its head.

I know a lot of people on this board like and support Bachmann, Cain, and Santorum. Personally, I really like Michele and her debate performance last night strengthened my opinion of her. As I said before, I could easily support any of them.

I think many of the Palin supporters feel the same way too (that is, if she decided not to jump in, they could support one of the three above without much reservations). And many of us supporting one of the three candidates listed above, could possibly move to the Palin camp if she got in without any problems.

However, there appears to be a strong minority of the Palin supporters on this forum that are trying hard to deliberately suck the life out of any other conservative candidate who might actually be just as able to carry the conservative banner in the 2012 election. The notion of these folks is that Palin is the only "true conservative" who can do no wrong and that any other candidate claiming to be a conservative in this race is simply a "wolf in sheeps clothing", and that we should simply wait for her entry into the race so that she can be rightfully "annoited". After all, they say, once she enters, the debates against the other conservatives will be useless because she is already obviously the winner!

As someone that believes in conservative values and independent thought, I reject this notion and take great offense to the attacks these people have thrown on Bachmann, Cain, and Santorum.

I like Sarah Palin a lot. I love how she has learned to torture the media and turn the game on them. It's clear she is the most charasmatic of all the conservative indiviudals listed. Beleive me, it would be awesome watching her win on Election Night just to see the reaction of the liberal media (I predict Olbermann would hang himself). She's more than capable to be President.

But Sarah Palin isn't the only conservative. And contrary to some people here, she isn't an object to be worshipped. This type of infatuation always leads to disappointment, because NO candidate is perfect.

I like Michelle Bachmann. And I like Herman Cain too. And if either of these individuals ever made it to the WH at the top of a ticket, then I believe are country would be in good shape.

So I'm asking nicely to please, stop the attacks on the other conservatives in this race. These people are not rivals, they're allies. Let them each state their case to the American people, then take a step back, and make a good, rationale, objective decision.

P.S. By "Conservative Candidates" I do not mean Romney or other RINOS (those folks are fair game)

>>On that point alone, a doff of the ol’ derby to freedumb2003 for at least hanging in there for the jousting.<<

Thanks :)

Sometimes people have a “real life” that intrudes on the series activity of FReeping. Clearly, these people have an unbalanced sense of what is important in life :) ;)

And sometimes, people just throw their hands up in frustration and head out the door.

And, for the record, I have tried to be polite and my point is to point out that there may be better ways to help Gov. Palin than just blasting everyone who speaks against her.

You are very kind :)

I went back and reviewed all the million+ posts since FR came into existence.

Sorry, FDY — yours was the first mistake EVER!

;) (I can’t help it — LOL)

She is polarizing.....so conservatism is polarizing to liberals imagine that....(btw this was the very first attack made by the MSM against Palin in 2008)

Major Mistakes during the VP run? ....you mean the VP run in which she was told to do everything by the McCain campaign? or are you referring to a chopped up edited interview by CBS. You know the CBS that gave us the false Bush records......

She resigned her gov position....you mean what she did after Obama’s then Chief of Staff colluded with the left wing bloogers in his home state of AK to drive Palin into bankruptcy and they took every ability of hers away from which she could defend herself.....and then the left coined the term “quit” for what up until that point has always been referred to every politician leaving office as “resigned” a term i see you use not once but twice imagine that.....

Toying with the media? I really have no idea what you are talking about here. Please explain further. If you mean showing them up for the fools they are. It seemed to work since her negatives have dropped from 65% to 52% in the latest CNN poll......

so you bring three leftwing manufractured memes. Narratives that you have been duped into believing it seems and then you wonder why conservatives get upset with you mouthing leftwing talking points to damage a conservative candidate?

the last point you made needs more clarification from you before I can make a determination on it...

your facts are not facts. They are leftwing spin. Palin is not polarizing anymore than any conservative or for that matter liberal is. It you want a non-polarizing candidate you will need to find some moderate somewhere that has never taken a stand on any issue. the ‘mistakes” made if any during her run as VP were a matter of McCain's staff. They set up the interviews, they prepped her for those interviews, they decided who she talked with, where she went, what she wore, what she ate.

And the fact that she was forced to resign her office because of the unrelenting attacks sponsored by Obama and his chief of staff and should be a rallying point not something fellow conservatives bash her on.

As far as her running or not running. Consider this. Out of all the candidates that have played the will she or won't she game gov Palin is the only one that has the vast majority of people undecided on what she will do. All other were seen early for what their decision would be. not something a stupid person could pull off. Those that have watched her since Nov 2008 know that she has done everything needed to prepare for a campaign. just like all the other candidates. to not give her the same respect for that effort as others are given. (i.E lean towards running until they say they are not) is just classless.

“That is what we mean. If someone/anyone criticizes Gov. Palin or handicaps her chance of winning, they “are easily lead around by the nose by the MSM/RNc/DNC’s PR machine.”

I’ve been off and on this thread, its useless to respond to the FR Palin Fanatics, as they have so willingly demonstrated. Your earlier lists were partially correct, anytime you try to debate Palin, it could be as simple as you don’t like her voice. The Fanatic Fringe respond with name calling, wishing death to those who disagree, calling freepers “fags”. They deny everything, they attempt to rewrite history. They trash other conservatives routinely. But as you have pointed out they sure like to prove hate.

Unless the primary process changes, the democrats may pick our candidate.

And unless the ANNOUNCED CANDIDATES put on their big boy and big girl pants on and get busy, we are going to get Romney w/o the usual suspects' help.

Romney has the money, the organization, the name and the establishment GOP - it's after all "his turn".

Conservatives had better be getting serious about getting him neutralized and driven out of the race.

So let me get this straight. the MSM/DNC/RNC has had an effort for the last 3 years to make Palin unelectable. and when it is pointed out to the people that have fell for the MSM/DNC/RNC PR machine that yes indeed they have fallen for the PR, It is an attack on them?

while i understand it might be painful to realize you have been duped what type of conservatives would we be if we didn’t point it out to you that you have been duped. Should we just allow you to go through life not knowing that the MSM has played you for a fool?

next you will be telling me the economy is in a recovery...

Yep, he left too easy in 2008, he was promised this time.

Getting him out will be tough because so many people don’t pay enough attention to know how he really is.

I was hoping hw would get the Rudy treatment. Problem is Rudy had a crazy personal life, Romney doesn’t.

This is the point in the program where you and yous have run all the people who disagree with you out of the thread and spend the next 100 posts high-fiving each other.

Not for your argumentation but for your invective.

But congratulations for shouting down everyone else.

You didn’t make your point but you certainly bulls-eyed the OP’s.

Good morrow.

the only condescending attitude and insulting language is coming from the MSM. who seem fine with taking their snark IRT to gov Palin. the 24,000 emails just proved almost everything they have said about the woman for the last 3 years were a lie.

Now you got two choices as I see it. Accept that they lied to you or not. I’ll be damned if i am going to allow the marxists in the press to win by making an upstanding conservative leader into some evil character.

oh no. I did not run you off. you choose to disengage from the debate. If the MSM started calling Cain polarizing would you just accept that verdict form them. You think Cain did not make mistakes? You can't build up Cain by tearing down Palin. Cain will have to stand or fall on his own. some of the things i like about him but when compared to palin he falls way short on substance, experience and knowledge.

I want credit for picking up on the “troll” part in a follow-up. :)

The rest, we can see before our very eyes. We haven’t hit the “homosexual” horizon yet, bet we seem to be skating on the extreme edge.

We clearly have hit and gone beyond the point where argumentation is of any value.

I suggest we sit back and watch the high-fives.

I’m not the one in a hole. I showed where your talking points are coming from. what say you to using the leftwing talking points? should I go over to Dailykos and get the latest talking point about Cain and then post it here as if it is a fact? And if I then posted that talking point for the next year or two would that make it a “fact” in your book.

Your argument is illogical. there are facts and there is spin. you are confusing the two and /or apply those to one and only one candidate.

Hmm.

Troubling this. If posters here cannot deal well with well-intentioned and honest criticism from others on our side, with a love for America in common.

How in the world will any deal with the MSM and marxists? Not to mention a huge growing communist China seeking to push off the world stage.

(with a very troubling amount of help doing so, from people who are allegedly on our side)

Seriously. Buck it up people.

I think you stated your case very well but I do not agree with you. It would be nice if we could all be nice and get along all the time but it would serve no purpose.

There are a lot of really nasty, mean, hateful, murderous people out there who are sneaky and underhanded in all their dealings and who hate the very idea of freedom, and they outnumber the good guys by a lot.

We need tough people in this fight. We may be called upon soon to put everything we love on the line and if we aren't prepared to do that, we may let the whole world down for a long time.

Most people are not comfortable with confrontation, but if you are not ready to fight tooth and nail here, where it's just people sitting at computers throwing words around, you are not vaguely ready for the what's coming.

I noticed that, during the debate the other night, Ron Paul brought up some very serious things. He appears to be a kind, thoughtful man of high honor and courage who understands more of what is going on than most. I personally think that there aren't many people who are well informed enough and intelligent enough to understand what he is really saying most of the time.

For example, he brought up how dangerous and urgent the issue of our devaluing of our currency is. If something isn't done soon, very soon, to begin to turn this disaster around, life as we know it in this country is over.

The people who are in control of the Obama administration know this and are doing their best, through Obama and his minions, to bring our entire economy crashing down and right now they are winning.

None of the other candidates picked up on this issue, and it may be the most important issue, and neither did any of the freepers who followed the debate. Instead, we were treated to the usual brilliance of "Ron Paul is a kooky nutcase and so are all the Paulbots."

And when you remember that the best is represented here, that freepers are some of the brightest and most informed people in the world, this response is very sad. And I think this is what you might have been trying to say.

It's not that there is so much hate and discord displayed at Free Republic, it's that there is so much stupidity. You cannot overcome stupidity. Stupid almost always wins. Not always, the constitution is a good example of this, but most of the time stupid rules.

By the way, Sarah is my choice. I am in love with her. I don't believe anyone can match how very good she will be for this country. And I believe that when she is president she will put many of those good people in the debate the other night to good use.

I think Republicans need to be trashed as the traitors and eunuchs they are and conservatives, no matter what their party, need to be nurtured and cared for like tender plants as we are going to need them to be strong. Herman Cain said it best the other night. We need to do this for our children and grandchildren. And we need to do it for all freedom loving people in the world.
