In the days after her son Trig was born, Sarah Palin received an outpouring of support and well wishes, many from other parents of children with Down syndrome.
Most notable among these was Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), whose son Cole was born with Down syndrome.
"The hardest part is hearing the news and getting your arms around a new reality," she wrote in an intimate email. "However, you quickly develop new hopes and dreams for your son." McMorris Rodgers invited Palin to call her if she ever wanted to talk.
"I can testify to the 'unspeakable joy' of raising a child with designer genes," wrote Alyson Dunn of Texas. "That extra 21st chromosome is the love chromosome. ... We are all much more affectionate, loving, and just plain happy since Noah has come along."
"I won't tell you things won't sometimes be hard," wrote Jane Tilton of Arizona, "but I can tell you they will be worth it."
"She will find that it [Down syndrome] is a special gift, not necessarily a special need," wrote Angie Fraize, an Anchorage police officer whose uncle has Down syndrome. "Of all the disabilities that one can be born with, Down's syndrome is the BEST. My uncle Dan has not spent a single day sad or mad
Just a simple hug will make his day!"

What a sweet thought!
Publishing this probably caused blood to gush out of some sets of eyes in the LAT newsroom. With normal humans it causes discharge of the salty variety. I am now a fan of a congresswoman from Washington whom I’d never heard of before.
I can’t help but wonder if there aren’t emails that are extremely critical, even hateful of her, but that the MSM would be loathe to excerpt and publish those.
Well, this was a very sweet article.
It’s like the world has turned upside down.
Many death threats .
Especially those sent by the editors and staff of the WaPo, NY Slimes and LA Slimes.
Didn’t the liberals “prove” Trig was actually Sarah’s daughter’s son? Letters like this must all be cover.

Gee, her emails are certainly hurting her, aren’t they?
As I have stated previously, they are the party of unintended consequences.
Pandora’s Box is thy name.
Genesis 50:20 - But as for you, ye thought evil against me; [but] God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as [it is] this day, to save much people alive.
I have a Down Syndrome Cousin. She was recently diagnosed with Leukemia and has undergone the first round of chemo.
Although she’s had a few days when the strain was hard on her, she’s accepted the illness and the treatment as just another part of her life.
The “Down” chromosome IS the “Love” chromosome, for sure.
I pray that there are no repercussions against those who sent these emails, especially Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers who is one of my twitter friends.
This is so backfiring on the left who thought it would be full of dirt and ammo to use against her. Loving it.
This is showing this is a real human who was a very hard worker, who practiced what she preached, and hated corruption.. oh, and occasionally used a very mild swear word.
Wait, what....? Emails from well wishers on the birth of her child? Oh, never mind.
Between this and the death threats, this whole thing is has blow up in their faces. I predict my next week this whole story will totally disappear because it makes Palin look normal and sensible, contrary to the MSM meme.
Just remember this is the left. They will “find” a showstopper as soon as she gets the nomination.
In America, all our constitutional protections rest on the Founders' premise that all human beings are "endowed by their Creator" with rights to both life and the liberty to "pursue happiness." That is the sole reason those rights are deemed unalienable--because they are derived, not from another human being, not from a government, not even from the mother, but from God.
"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them." - Thomas Jefferson
That understanding underlies every other consideration embodied in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. It is the very basis of our rights to life, liberty, and laws to protect them.
Since the 1970's, technological advances have enabled us to observe God's tiniest creations in the womb. We no longer have an excuse for imagining that these are blobs of tissue labeled "fetuses." They are living babies who will have life and liberty if we do not "destroy" them.
At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC on February 3, 1994, Mother Teresa stated: And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?"
Indeed, if we cannot protect the life and liberty of these smallest versions of ourselves, even with their so-called "imperfections," then Mother Teresa's words take on significant meaning.
Thanks for the lovely photo. See my previous post on this thread.
Of course, you’re shocked, stressed and disappointed when things don’t go as expected; but you soon learn this is REAL LIFE. Strong people get up, dust themselves off, and put one foot in front of the other, take a day at a time, and sooner or later, learn that what other people think is really not all that important after all. This realization can be liberating. - Over 40 yrs. ago, we had a Downs baby with lots of the physical stuff that goes along with that syndrome. He died after surgery at 6 wks. of age. He was a Sweetie; my husband called him Sweetie and that was music to my ears.
((((Twinkie))) (((Mr. Twinkie))) (((Sweetie)))
I have tears. God bless you, your husband and Sweetie.
BTTT, (((loveliberty2))).
Mother Teresa was truly destined for Sainthood.
