Concealed Carry and CO2
Illinois Review ^ | June 11, 2011 A.D. | John F. Di Leo

The Wisconsin legislature has had a fascinating debate on the issue of concealed carry. For a state in which responsible deer hunting has long been a key element of the culture, this should be a slam dunk. The problem of violent crime is expanding past the cities, and as the saying goes, “when seconds count, the police are just minutes away.”

So, a state full of law-abiding citizens, many of whom were raised with firearms, for whom gun safety is already a part of children’s upbringing, should have no problem passing a concealed carry bill – especially now that the party of the law-abiding has replaced the party of the lawbreakers in both the governor's mansion and both sides of the legislature.

But there is a problem – a concern that goes far beyond the issue of gun control to encompass the entire fabric of public policy debate.

New laws can no longer be written for posterity; they must now be written with protections from future leftist abuse as well.

The only cure for governmental abuse of power is the complete and absolute removal of that power.

New laws can no longer be written for posterity; they must now be written with protections from future leftist abuse as well.

A valid concern but a fools errand. That simply freezes everything in place out of fear of action. If everything stays as is that means the Left has won in many areas, such as gun control and other government regulation and taxing scheme.

As you know and are probably saying through sarcasm, laws should be written for posterity rather than for the short term. We just must be ever vigilant against creeping socialism.

IF THE LAWS ARE WRITTEN IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR FOUNDING DOCUMENT, THE ONES THAT PASS JUDICIAL MUSTER WILL REMAIN FOR POSTERITY, AND THE REST WILL FALL BY THE WAYSIDE. Sorry about the allcaps, but I’m too tired to change it.

The founding documents were written for posterity but I wouldn’t put too much confidence in the judicial system. Evil people have been conspiring for many years to overcome our founding documents and they are succeeding. Appointing judges who violate the original intent is part of the plan.

I am sure you know this and I am in total agreement with your comment, caps and all.
