Anyone looking forward to corn on the cob slathered with butter this summer may find that it has become an expensive part of their diet. Or it not be available at all.
(Excerpt) Read more at examiner.com ...
We have our garden planted with plenty of corn so now with hopes of good weather and help from God, we will have a good crop.
Where do these people come up with this crap.
Corn on the cob isn’t field corn. It’s sugar corn or Silver Queen. people who grow corn to sell for Corn on the Cob grow it for eating , not to make Ethanol out of it, and the price they charge is a premium for eating corn much more than they can get for field corn.
Corn on the cob from a grocery store isn’t fit to eat anyway. Real Eating Corn loses half it’s sweetness 24 hrs after it is picked. The best is picked and put in the pot immediately.
Barring that, buy it from a produce stand you know who gets it locally. The Amish here raise it and sell it on the side of the road. So far that isn’t illegal, but who knows, some Health Dept. nut might get an erection thinking up ways to screw them out of that this year.
More shameless self promotion and linkage to the virus-laden examiner.

Ethanol has to be one of the best examples of governmental stupidity and corruption that created supply distortions and gave rise to an economic disaster. Too bad none of our schools will ever use this as a case study.
No shortages or high prices here. We bought a lot for our BBQ tomorrow and it only cost 15c each. Of course, you do know that what you get in the store is a completely different variety than what you eat?
Wow, you spam your blog post all over the place don’t you?

Wish I could eat it.
“Anyone looking forward to corn on the cob slathered with butter this summer may find that it has become an expensive part of their diet.”
In our local markets cob corn is selling 5 for $2. That seems pretty cheap to me.
“Of course, you do know that what you get in the store is a completely different variety than what you eat?”
Why would you buy corn in the store if you are not going to eat it. I only responded to your post because this question made no sense to me.
Yea, I didn’t make sense at all. I meant what was used for ethanol... Coffee is still brewing, I’m sure I’ll make more sense in a bit.

Sounds like a new consumer/health protection agency in the making. They could also ‘protect’ the citizenry against unsanitary conditions and tax avoidance schemes in all those roadside lemon aid stands.
Good so the source for high fructose corn syrup dries up...that crap is poison anyway..
.
Thank you, now I get it. I try not to post before coffee as much as I can.
None of this farmers corn is "sweet corn". It does nd will creae shortages...but he gets one heck of a subsidy.
P.S. These farmers play the mrket...They can wind up losing because of price quarantees.
High food prices will at least reduce the problem of obesity. Is this a plot by Michele Obama?
I planted corn. I’ve got two ears of corn on the stalks out two 15 ft rows.
