The meats were like a bad joke gone bad. $7-10 for a small package of chicken breasts. I got enough food for a week and it was $107. The cashier lady told me some woman (when she noticed) milk at $4 a gallon asked if there was s milk shortage. Are people this stupid?
I am truly afraid for this country in so many ways and as the cashier lady said she told the ditz lady it will get far worse before it gets better. And the cashier was in her 20's and she figured this out- so there is some hope this age group knows to vote out Impeach Obama NOW!
Foodmax in CA. where I live jumped 20 cents on the half gallon in the past week.
If you’re buying powdered milk, and you have a Mexican food section in your Walmart, check out the Nestles powdered whole milk, it’s really good! It’s called NIDO.
I stock up on it because we live so far from town.
The prices that you are seeing today are from those of us that know how to shop, I can find you all the $4.00 and even $7.00 a gallon milk that you want here in California.
Yes thanks I enjoyed the scanned receipt. I truly needed the laugh.
Ok, to avoid the dreaded freezer burn, eh? That’s a good tip! I love green peppers. I look forward to my own home grown, that I know are free of pesticides.
Happy Gardening!
I don’t live in California. I’m in Arizona. I went to check my grocery receipt. I didn’t have the last one, but thought I paid $1.89 for milk. I did find one from the trip before and it was $1.79. It’s basically generic milk. I figure it’s so cheap because it’s WIC (gov) Approved and we have so many illegal aliens and Navajos in Arizona. I’ll spare everyone a long rant I could easily go on. When the welfare folk can shop with Schwann’s and I’m helping pay for it, I have no problem taking advantage of cheap milk I’ve already helped pay for.
Excellent suggestion I will look for it. There are several mexican aisles in Food Lion.
Yep! Together they are great for any meal you are cooking throw in some chopped garlic - to die for!
And the gas price is measured in shrinking units... The dollar
I have been buying milk at Albertson’s for two years now and they have always priced their milk this way. Big discount if you buy two of the same kind of certain brand.
I haven’t shopped Target but I do drive past one, I’ll check it out.
Around $2.50 here in Georgia at Walmart.
Of course, at Whole Foods you can pay up to $8.
The prices are so low its amazing. I'd be up a creek without the store near me.
Dozen eggs still under 2.00, box of Trader Joes brand Cheerios 1.99 ( large box ) and so on. Fruit, veg etc. all very reasonable prices. Its a good outfit.
Heck, I’ve been buying it that way, from that same store, when my kids were small...back then it was Lucky’s. Remember?
I just bought a gallon of milk at Aldi’s for $1.78. I’m in the Chicago suburbs.
then I plead insanity, but as I drive thru cali I am always seeing milk advertised lower then I can get it at home. I am sure we can all find $7 milk sure dont want to but it. Food prices are going nuts that all I know & it will get worse.
All of my kids swear by their food costs...
My DIL has become The Coupon Queen. I’m so proud of her...she’ll call me every couple of weeks to brag about all of the money she’s saved.
:)
yah...the steaks the missus paid $4.99/lb all summer long last year are now “on sale” for $6.99/lb.
Too many examples to list, but food inflation is very real and a lot higher than anyone is talking about in government or media.
Thank you. I have since googled and it looks very easy. I think I’ll try freezing some this week.
