A major question lingers unanswered at the center of this story: Why was bin Laden killed? Michael Scherer has reported that the Navy Seals who landed at Osama bin Laden’s safehouse were not given orders specifically to kill, but were on a “kill or capture” mission. That implies they were prepared to accept bin Laden’s surrender. It didn’t work out that way. But despite earlier reports to the contrary, including from White House counter-terror adviser John Brennan, Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters Tuesday that bin Laden was in fact unarmed. (“Resistance does not require a firearm,” he said.) So, what happened?

There are a lot of combat rated officers who never saw combat (in the rear). So please tell us what you are uneasy about.
One would have to wonder what the reaction in this country would be if the Taliban sent a team in to kill Bush. Would we be ok with that?
There is no way that Obama can claim any kind of deniability. Even if he couldn't stomach to watch the video feed of Osama being rubbed out, he still gave the necessary authorization and he knew what the mission was about. If he stupid enough to try and claim any kind of deniability on his part, he'll be crucified by the electorate and his fellow democrats.
And he can kiss a second term in office good bye. End of story.
No he won't. Obama could do anything, and the fawning media would find a way to spin it to his advantage.
Note how the left is praising Obama for being decisive, standing up to terrorism, using U.S. power, supporting the military, and carrying out the death penalty--all things they adamantly oppose.
Then you aren’t paying attention to the current events or how Obama operates.

The decision to kill Osama was NOT made by Obama.

NOT MADE BY OBAMA.
It was made by the command operation on the ground.
Pay attention to how the stories have changed and how they are laying the groundwork to protect Obama.

The US does NOT have the authority to go assassinate someone in a foreign country. I don’t care who that person is. You could find Hitler hiding out in Argentina and they still would not have the authority to go assassinate him.
They assassinated Osama because he had once worked with the CIA...though the CIA denies it. There is plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise. Even Ray McGovern admits that OSama worked with the CIA.
Osama could have raised his hands to surrender and he still would have been assassinated.
This team is a cracker jack assassination team. They could have taken an unarmed man into custody. They didn’t.

If this had happened under Bush all of you would be throwing a parade from NYC to Los Angeles.
Actually, things would have been much different. Bush would not have been in a golf shirt, he wouldn't have doddled about for 16 hours, The SEALS would have been given clear orders, IE either kill or capture, one or the other and for sure, we would not be hearing about any possible intel gathered at the site for months until it had played out completely.
Bush would have congratulated the armed forces and all those who actually took part in the mission and would have stepped aside to give others the glory.
There would be one single clear story that was incomplete enough to know what happened but to understand that there is still work to be done.

The excuse being given now is that it looked like Osama was reaching for a weapon.

I read somewhere that standard procedure in this would be two shots to the chest and one to the head - Mozambique Drill.
But maybe the Navy Seals don’t use it. They appeared to use the Double Tap method.
Except one story said he was shot in the side of the head.
I really don’t know what’s more troubling. Sending in such highly trained squad to kill an unarmed man, or an administration that is so inept they can’t concoct a believable scenario of what went down.
That’s right 20 minutes of firefight. That part of the story they’ve been consistent with.
Now I ask you. You’ve had helicopters, including a Chinook, come in low enough and long enough to drop 24 troops off. Quick drop granted, but that Chinook alone would shake the house off the foundation. At least 10 minutes of gunfire. But OBL has no weapon and is still standing in his bedroom.
The story stinks.
An assassination team went into a foreign country and assasinated an unarmed man without the permission of the country. A country that was not part of the “war zone”
President Jefferson sent the Marines to the Barbary Coast. President Wilson sent General Pershing deep into Mexico after Pancho Villa (Patton personally killed Villa's General Cardenas, and was said to have carved notches into his revolvers). I probably don't need to mention Noriega but if he had not taken refuge in the Catholic Embassy he probably would have enjoyed a dirt nap too.
With numerous other military interventions it seems that we have a strong precedence. I don't see the problem.
Osama didn’t cuff himself, therefore he was resisting. It works for me!

I figured a living UBL would have become a political nightmare for Obama and Holder given the KSM fiasco.
The twist, however, is the Left’s hypocrisy of accepting assassinations when it’s in control; given the killing of UBL was in fact an assassination as reported.

I agree with you. If Bush had done this he would be called an assassin, been accused of war crimes and the SEALs would be put on trial by Obama and his cohorts. It will be interesting if Obama gets away with this.
The folks jumping out of the towers were unarmed to. Now we have concerns over how he was taken?
Let's be clear, the only reason we are debating this topic is because the Obama White House is turning this situation into a badly scripted TV Reality Show.
These Obama Bozos can't get their story straight. The Media is so in the tank for these idiots that everything they report depends on another Obama Sycophant. There is no Investigative Reporting, the Media of today are no better than the Pharaoh’s Scribes, “so it is written, so it shall be done”.
All we have so far is a story, or should I say a plethora of stories. That idiot Press Secretary Carney looks as confused as Obama did in that picture of the Situation Room during the raid.
As for me, I am not coming down on any side here. There are more questions than answers. Trust but Verify should be the caption under every picture of Pres__ent Soetoro. The guy is a joke, a very bad joke.
