"I don't hear (Team Obama) talking about Mr Pawlenty
or anybody else... they're only talking about Trump"
Donald Trump is already claiming to be the one Barack Obama fears the most, and based upon the telling cheap shot that David Plouffe -of DNC Troll Patrol fame- took last weekend on Face the Nation... he may be right.
Trump's people are now investigating Obama's well-shrouded background, employing "great resources... looking into it very seriously". Like the seasoned competitor and showman that he is, The Donald also makes sure to let loose a daily round or two himself to keep that Trump name on the front pages whilst he chips away steadily at the false Obama narrative...

Recent noteworthy quotes:
"I'm Barack Obama's worst nightmare"
"I am a Christian... I believe in God"
"I think the Bible is, certainly, it is THE book"
"China is running away with our jobs, they're just doing a number on us like never before."
"Libya! a total mess- I mean, the man is doing a terrible job as president"
"(Obama) has no control over OPEC because they don't respect him"
"You're going to see your gasoline for your car be six, seven,
and eight dollars a gallon very soon"
"Just show us the (Obama long-form BC) proof"
"I like how now (Obama) says 'we have to work on the budget'- where the heck has he been for the last two years?"
"Here's a guy who's never done a deal in his life, except with Tony Rezko..."
"His grandmother said very clearly he was born in Kenya... until all the handlers went crazy"
"...why is his family arguing over which hospital he was born in?
They don't even know..."
"Let the ObamaCare case go straight to the Supreme Court"
"The last person they want to run against is me... and I know that from a fact, from people who are very close to Obama"
"I will tell you this: the country's not respected... it's poorly run... we're a laughing stock throughout the world..."
"There are a lot of things we can do to reduce that deficit...
and I mean in a hurry"
"I would love to take (Obama) on"

Trump 2012...?
Truth be told, the knee-jerk reaction was negative... then I started thinking: I want a real fighter to rip into Obama hard while also a true conservative we can depend on to swing a mean budget axe... willing to go on the offensive to unseat this heinous regime in the most aggressive fashion possible. Otherwise, the unholy Prog/MSM alliance will simply chew us up... much as they've already done to Palin, sadly.
But it's not just the debt, and of all our numerous simultaneous crises the economy is the one likely to make or break the 2012 election, barring a terrorist attack or other momentous event.
Who do we have running (or thinking about it) that possesses the acumen for jump-starting entrepreneurs and small business? We can't affford to fail this time, the country's on the financial ropes. Besides Donald Trump, maybe Mitt Romney... but I'd take Trump over him or any similar RINO in a New York minute- wouldn't you?
Clearly Trump would fight like a tiger... and have fun doing it, a key to success in any endeavor. Add to that essential quality his business background, powerful name recognition, winning take-no-prisoners style and true conservative platform (below)... I'm going to give the guy a real serious look... if he can beat Obama, I can't say I'd have any real issues with a Trump presidency.
He also has vast experience dealing with politicians of all stripes -both domestic and international- and I doubt any personal baggage 3x married Trump brings will make a difference this time- the country is scared, and seeks a firm hand bringing practical solutions stat.
Trump has stated he'll "probably" run as an independent if denied the GOP nomination... so we all better get used to the idea of a Trump 2012 campaign- seems a near certainty.
The balance of any Trump platform might be expected to look a little something like this, based on prior statements...
more conservative than expected? That was my impression:
____________________________________________________________________
- Supports a fair trade policy and believes generally that the People's Republic of China should be considered more of an adversarial competitor, subjected to significant import tariffs as a response to China's currency policy in order to help balance the U.S. budget.
- Believes the U.S. should disengage in Iraq and Afghanistan

Donald just wants Barry gone.
Who can argue with that?

Trump on the issues.
Just to put it in comparison, here is Rudy's policy chart.
..and Bill Clinton's chart
From ontheissues.org He is way closer to Bill Clinton than he is someone we all agree is a RINO. Heck, on a straight right/left paradigm, he is almost identical to Bill Clinton.

Well...the flip-side is that you talk about Trump and Palin as the front runnners and you reduce the stature of the fiscal heavyweights in the Republican field. That said, I’m voting against Obama...I don’t care who he faces.

In before the “he’s not that conservative” posts. Not as much on some issues, and perhaps a recent convert on others, but I’ve been saying he’s basically the ultimate tea partier for this reason:
Ive read his books and followed him over the years. Hes pretty consistent on a few key issues, such as foreign policy, trade, and overall fiscal viewpoint, save for his brain fart on nationalized healthcare, which he seems to have given up in favor of allowing insurance across state lines.
He hasnt flipped as much as we think. Hes a typical non-political business type who only cares about a few issues and has relatively little ideology otherwise, but he seems to have had an awakening the last couple years, thanks to Obama. There are a lot of issues he’s probably been rather fuzzy on for a long time, because he just never really thought about them that much until now.
Forget hes a businessman and media personality for a minute, and forget hes filthy rich.
Doesnt he now sound like a lot of people we all know? People who vote, swing voters in many cases, who were always somewhat conservative, but never gave it enough thought to truly know what they were, until recently, when they saw the damage Obama was doing? Isnt that how the Tea Party movement got started?
Trump is the ultimate tea partier.

Is there any doubt that the words Trump is speaking
are resonating with the American public
and therefore feared by the MSM and the
Communist/Marxist/alQaeda in power?

Now he’s talking Third Party if he doesn’t get the GOP nomination and that makes him dangerous, IMO.

A little bit ago I heard an ad for Oreilly tonight. He is going to explore allegations that Obama has covered up his college and other records.
Does anyone believe this would be happening sans Trump?

I’m very supportive of everything Trump’s done so far.
He seems to have fire, and if he keeps acting like he doesn’t give a damn about the media take on things, then I’m just fine with that.
He’s definitely got my attention.

then a Third Party and the final dissolution of the GOP
is a sine qua non, n’est pas?

Trump isn't for conservatism. He's for Trump.
He's said he'd probably run as an independent unless he wins the nomination. Now assuming his primary appeal is to conservatives, his running as an independent would split the anti-Obama vote and virtually guarantee Obama's reelection. What kind of person who truly values conservative principles promises to help re-elect Obama if he doesn't get the nomination?

Good charts. Interesting that Rudy is where he is on that scale, especially in relation to Trump. I always hated seeing him lumped in with Romney and McCain. He is conservative as heck on many issues, and very strong on those issues in terms of ability to execute and communicate the issues. There are others where he is quite poor.
Trump could be in several places on the left to right axis, depending on what his true views are. He is all over the board on issues like taxes on the rich, health care, and several others. I don’t trust him yet to be a constitutional leader, which is critical for our next candidate.
I actually like a similar chart where populist is replaced with authoritarian, and on that chart, I like to find people closer to libertarian than authoritarian. I suspect both Rudy and Trump would trend towards authoritarian on that chart, as it seems like the NE Republican view is much more government driven than the rest of the country.

Trump is great theater, but he’s not a serious contender. He’s even more reminiscent of Ross Perot than are the female heart-throbs.
