Donald Trump is Winning Me Over... and Quick
Reaganite Republican ^ | April 12, 2011 | Reaganite Republican

"I don't hear (Team Obama) talking about Mr Pawlenty
or anybody else... they're only talking about Trump"

Donald Trump is already claiming to be the one Barack Obama fears the most, and based upon the telling cheap shot that
David Plouffe -of DNC Troll Patrol fame- took last weekend on Face the Nation... he may be right.

Trump's people are now investigating Obama's well-shrouded background, employing "great resources... looking into it very seriously". Like the seasoned competitor and showman that he is, The Donald also makes sure to let loose a daily round or two himself to keep that Trump name on the front pages whilst he chips away steadily at the false Obama narrative...

Recent noteworthy quotes:

"I am very conservative"

"I'm Barack Obama's worst nightmare"

"I am a Christian... I believe in God"

"I think the Bible is, certainly, it is THE book"

"China is running away with our jobs, they're just doing a number on us like never before."

"Libya! a total mess- I mean, the man is doing a terrible job as president"

"(Obama) has no control over OPEC because they don't respect him"

"You're going to see your gasoline for your car be six, seven,
and eight dollars a gallon very soon"

"Just show us the (Obama long-form BC) proof"

"I like how now (Obama) says 'we have to work on the budget'- where the heck has he been for the last two years?"

"Here's a guy who's never done a deal in his life, except with Tony Rezko..."

"His grandmother said very clearly he was born in Kenya...
until all the handlers went crazy"

"...why is his family arguing over which hospital he was born in?
They don't even know..."

"Let the ObamaCare case go straight to the Supreme Court"

"The last person they want to run against is me... and I know that from a fact, from people who are very close to Obama"

"I will tell you this: the country's not respected... it's poorly run... we're a laughing stock throughout the world..."

"There are a lot of things we can do to reduce that deficit...
and I mean in a hurry"

"I would love to take (Obama) on"

Trump 2012...?

Truth be told, the knee-jerk reaction was negative... then I started thinking: I want a real fighter to rip into Obama hard while also a true conservative we can depend on to swing a mean budget axe... willing to go on the offensive to unseat this heinous regime in the most aggressive fashion possible.  Otherwise, the unholy Prog/MSM alliance will simply chew us up... much as they've already done to Palin, sadly.

But it's not just the debt, and of all our numerous simultaneous crises the economy is the one likely to make or break the 2012 election, barring a terrorist attack or other momentous event.

Who do we have running (or thinking about it) that possesses the acumen for jump-starting entrepreneurs and small business? We can't affford to fail this time, the country's on the financial ropes. Besides Donald Trump, maybe Mitt Romney... but I'd take Trump over him or any similar RINO in a New York minute- wouldn't you?

Clearly Trump would fight like a tiger... and have fun doing it, a key to success in any endeavor.  Add to that essential quality his business background, powerful name recognition, winning take-no-prisoners style and true conservative platform (below)... I'm going to give the guy a real serious look... if he can beat Obama, I can't say I'd have any real issues with a Trump presidency.

He also has vast experience dealing with politicians of all stripes -both domestic and international- and I doubt any personal baggage 3x married Trump brings will make a difference this time- the country is scared, and seeks a firm hand bringing practical solutions stat.

Trump has stated he'll "probably" run as an independent if denied the GOP nomination... so we all better get used to the idea of a Trump 2012 campaign- seems a near certainty.

The balance of any Trump platform might be expected to look a little something like this, based on prior statements...
more conservative than expected? That was my impression:

____________________________________________________________________
  • Pro-life
  • Pro-gun
  • Full repeal of ObamaCare
  • Reduced foreign aid
  •  Supports a fair trade policy and believes generally that the People's Republic of China should be considered more of an adversarial competitor, subjected to significant import tariffs as a response to China's currency policy in order to help balance the U.S. budget.
  • Believes the U.S. should disengage in Iraq and Afghanistan

Not if Donald runs as a third party candidate. He would guarantee The Obamunist’s reelection.

It ain't going to go on that long.

Those hand grenades he's lobbing into the Oval Office are going to hit paydirt long before he needs to.

Tonight, Bill O'Reilly is looking at why Barry's background has been scrubbed. Do you think he would have done that if Donald hadn't started rocking the boat?

My fear is that the Soros/ACORN/SEIU>Organizing-for-America thugs will harm some member of Trump's family as a way of shutting him up. They wouldn't be stupid enough to go after Trump himself.

Since FR is a conservative forum, I doubt that will make a difference. But it will seriously limit who you choose to debate. And since you're a liberal Republican I can understand why you would take that tact. I guarantee, this conservative won't be ignoring you.

If you have something to say to me, don't talk behind my back, say it to my face, punk.

That ought to be rich. Ted Baxter trying to figure it all out for us. I’ll watch just for the amusement factor. LOL!

I did not think it is possible to talk behind anyone's back in FR forums or any public forum for that matter but if you feel I was so be it. I have no idea what you are referring to but obviously whatever I said must have pegged you good enough for you to think I was talking about you so proudly wear it.

I'm not a liberal republican, I am a conservative republican and as I told you before the links in my website are my the site and are the sites I visit most and are my favorite sites and most of them are far from liberal.

I find it rather offensive to see you wearing Reagan's name and speaking to other republicans as you do, not offensive to me but to Ronald Reagan himself and his son who happens to be a good friend of mine (and NO I'm not referring to Ronnie)

I wont call you "punk" back because I'm a lot more respectable to people than that. You review my posts and you will not see any posts where I call other Freepers "idiot" "stupid" "punk" because I have more respect than that.

While I would not necessarily vote for the Donald he has more onions than any of the eunuch Republican leadership and RINOs and is not afraid to rightfully blame Obama for the high gas prices, near bankruptcy of the US, loss of face in the world and deliberately covering up who he really is.

Be even stupider to go after Trump's family. The Donald has some old friends that shall we say "did business" in NYC

If he's the nominee I will withhold my vote for President.

I thought you were going "to start ignoring the Republican bashers"?

>>>>>>I did not think it is possible to talk behind anyone's back in FR forums ...

Don't play games with me. All FReepers in good standing know it is customary to ping someone and not post juvenile trashtalk behind their backs. After striking a nerve with you several times over the last few days for your continued defense of the liberal Republican, Donald Trump, I understand your reluctance to debate me on that issue. So you can stop lying.

Like I told you yesterday. The only thing worse than a liberal Democrat, is a liberal Republican.

I do not care what you call yourself politically and don't give a hoot about your website. Your rants in support of Trump show a willingness to ignore the hard truth about this rino. I've been advancing conservatism and defending conservatives around FR since 1999. If conservatism meant anything to you, you wouldn't have become a sycophant and political hack for Trump, defending him on every thread.

>>>>>I find it rather offensive ....

Too bad! As with most liberal-moderate-centrists, I don't care what you find offensive. FR is not a forum to promote bottom feeding candidates like Trump. Period.

JimRob has posted time and again, he won't allow FR to be used to promote the likes of Romney, Giuliani and Scott Brown, or any liberal for that matter. Since Trump has the same basic record as the others....

If you post behind my back, you're talking behind my back and that marks you, a punk. Simple as that.

Still waiting for you to reveal your original handle that you went by back in 2000.

I think another quality that he has is his ability/desire to cut the deadwood. It would be interesting to see what departments and budgets he amputated.

Well put Jim... going from a president who considers capitalists to be scum to a guy who KNOWS what makes this country work -or used to- would be reason enough to welcome a Trump administration.

Like I’ve said in the post, my initial reaction to Trump was negative... but I’m keeping an open mind and considering the alternatives... most of who are inferior to Trump imo

The founders had too high of an opinion of people over time. They forgot that human beings are fallen. They believed just enough, that given a choice between “heaven or hell” people would choose “heaven”. They forgot that there is a large segment that revels in it, and those people are predominantly the ones that gravitate to power.

I think you and Tao Yin have hit the nail that so many are missing in this discussion.
Trump is not Ross Perot. He is already starting to resonate with the great unwashed out there. The so called Independents, and the one we used to call Reagan Democrats will naturally gravitate to a Trump candidacy, and they already are.
Our next candidate has to have one important quality in common with Reagan, they (he, or she) has to be able to go over or around the national media. Our last few candidates have been chosen by the media. That’s why they touting the like of Romney, and Huckabee. The media knows Republicans sit at home if they get the nomination just like we did for McCain. They didn’t count on the wildcard he played named Palin, and have been trying to destroy her ever since she stepped into the arena and almost ruined their plan. Even McCain himself muzzled her during the campaign because of his delusion the media “liked” him.
She can, and has gone directly to the American people with her message, and Trump is doing it now.
The one thing we have to do is stop the internal destruction of our party. There are people on this board already going for each others throats over semantics. We’re sitting around already speaking of the Republican Party like it’s not ours anymore. I think that is the biggest mistake we make. The solution is simple, we Tea Party-ers wielded enough power during the mid-terms. The establishment Republicans are scared of losing their power and they should be. I understand the Tea Party will be having a convention before the Republicans.
The outcome of all this will not be a Sarah, or a Trump, or a Bachman joining a 3rd party, I think the more likely outcome will be, if they throw their support behind a Romney to get the nomination, they will be relegated to 3rd party position, and the Tea Party will control the government. All they’ll have left is the name.
