A Chilling Study in Cause and Effect - Finding the true cause of the Kandahar Riots
Illinois Review ^ | April 3, 2011 A.D. | John F. Di Leo

In a small town in Florida on March 20, the pastor of a small church held a public event: burning a koran for his audience and a video camera. His American Christian audience reacted as one would expect from them: they were happy to be a part of this provocative event; they returned to their homes and jobs after the service, and went on with their lives.

The world continued to turn… nobody of substance cared about Pastor Jones’ latest attempt at news coverage… until almost two weeks later, when it made the news half a planet away, in Afghanistan.

The president of Afghanistan denounced the event; imams and mullahs hammered it in their mosques. Their Afghan muslim audience reacted as one would expect from them: they streamed out into the streets, hunting down foreigners, beating hundreds of UN aides, NATO staffers, contractors, travelers, journalists, soldiers… rioting in the streets, burning the shops in their own neighborhoods, destroying property, attacking innocent bystanders. At least a hundred injuries and dozens of killings were confirmed by the second day of the riots.

In a world in which thousands die tragically every day – from starvation to murder, from disease and neglect – these events might not seem particularly newsworthy. When aren’t there riots in that part of the world? When aren’t innocents killed? It happens every day.

Someone KNOWING the reaction of Muslims to deliberate insult went ahead and deliberately insulted them in hopes that riots would ensue.

There has not been ONE post by me supporting these lunatics.
Questioning the wisdom of Minister Moron means I am supporting Islamaniacs? You need to brush up on your logic.

The Bible specifically states that the destruction of satanic and evil literature is acceptable. Acts 19:19 Others have burned flags, bibles, people in effigy and we do not go on a rampage to destroy and murder. This is an attempt to shit us up and force us to show their god and book honor when no honor will be shown any other by them.

All you are doing is agreeing to dhimmitude. Choose it for yourself but leave the rest of us out of it.

All that is fine but it is actually even worse. At the time Islam was concocted Arabia and the Middle East were filled with thriving Jewish and Christian cities. Cities which even protected Mohamed from the pagans conspiring to kill him. Almost all these cities and regions were destroyed when the wild tribes stormed out of the desert under the banners of Islam. But none of that has been the point here.

AT this time we have troops engaged in dealing with these people LIKE IT OR NOT. Nothing which makes their mission harder should be supported. Not all muslims “want to kill you” it is a tiny minority willing to go to those extremes but that minority keeps its hold on the rest by either killing them or convincing them that the west is out to get them and their religion. Minister Moron helps convince them that the militants are right.

Conversion of Muslims can only occur through Christ-like means we are past the days when a Charlemagne could convert the Saxons through war.

“Not one gave his live for such a thing. This expansion by the courts of what the 1st amendment means is an absurdity and you know it.”

I guess the Constitution is a living document then.

So be it, and good night.

You’re right, I was trying a bit to meet him halfway...but if he doesn’t understand why so much blood was spilled in our history, he’s HOPELESS.

My thinking is just ordinary commonsense and a willingness to speak my mind even if it is unpopular with some.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that when we are working with a people we should not go out of our way to insult them. Is there something wrong with that simple conclusion?

After 50 or so of your posts on this thread, I think I finally understand what you’re saying. Minister Moran is a bad guy for burning the Koran and our troops will suffer for it because it makes Muslims mad and when they get mad they kill more people than usual. If I have that right there is no need to reply.

Not all muslims “want to kill you”

oh really????? ...Their utter silence and refusal to stand against, in action, what their fellow Muslims are doing speaks volumes of their supporting those murders. When I see those Muslims you claim don't want to kill us..on the streets and opposing those who do...then talk about what they want or don't want. Until there is massive opposition to the terorits and those of the Islamic faith who support them by their silence....they are by default supporting them regardless of what they say...their inaction says it all.

I don’t waste my breath condemning those who act like Muslims often act what good would that do? They could care less and I would look like some whiny liberal schmuck.

I don’t like phony preachers interfering with our effort in the region. My interest is strictly with aiding rather than harming our troops and keeping FR from looking like a looney bin.

Now I’m Catholic? This is getting funnier all the time.

Sorry but the only churches I have ever attended have been Protestant, Calvinist protestant.

Although I will say that there would be no actions like this out of a Catholic priest.

Had Minister Moron merely discussed the weaknesses of Islam even the whackjobs would have been quiet.

No they wouldn't have.....you might want to talk to Geert Wilder about 'discussing' Islam....who needs 24 hour protection for doing just that...and lets not forget anout the painter they killed...and our troops at Fort Hood who were targeted for simply being soldiers at their own base. No...discussion is not going to change the muslims from doing what they've been doing for centuries and they will continue to be on that march. Time and tide have not changed their agenda...now will it.

As opposed to the actual people who set structures on fire, rioted and killed innocent people. Your moral compass is broken.

Amen. What happened to the ideal of personal responsibility? If we want to blame religious leaders, perhaps we should blame the clerics of the Muslims currently doing the 'reacting' to the actions of one man, half a world away. They are much closer to the action. Better yet, the people who are rioting and killing are the ones responsible. There, I said it. No one made them do what they are doing but themselves. The blame game is an entirely American-liberal invention.
