If you guessed the Taliban, then youd be correct. A lone Gurkha fought off an attack by 30 Taliban fanatics with just a chunk of metal and a sandbag after running out of ammunition.
According to World Live News:
Sergeant Dipprasad Pun, 31, facing a surprise attack at a Afghanistan checkpoint, used superhuman strength to hoist a 50lb machine gun off its mount to blast at the enemy. When they kept coming, he launched 17 grenades and picked up an SA80 assault rifle, only for it to jam.
Then he threw the machine guns metal tripod at his attackers, before fending them off with a sandbag while yelling in Nepali: I will kill you!
With nothing left to hand, the exhausted hero finally managed to fire off a Claymore mine, and the blast sent the enemy scattering.

Not necessarily a threat. BFL.
“If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha. - Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw
This is outstanding!
However, WTF was this guy doing alone in an "outpost" subject to military action? This is either:
(a)an heroic story destined to live for all time in the annals of Victoria Cross Winners, Huzzah! GSTQ!
(b) an example of cock-up military misfeasance unknown in even the British Army since Dickie Mountbatten got blown up,
(c) bullshiite.
PS: Saw Errol Flynn in "Lives of the Bengal Lancers." This episode could also be plagiarism. I'll wait for the award ceremony before making my mind up.
In the Falklands conflict with Argentina, the Brits did a masterful job of psyching out the Argentine soldiers by announcing that Gurkha soldiers would be entering the battle.
Supposedly this ditty was making the rounds amongst the foot soldiers: “How do you know when the Gurkhas are here? When you wake up in the morning and your head falls off”
Sounds like there will be a few stories circulating around the Taliban ranks now.....
You do NOT want to ‘eff’ with a Ghurka.
We ought to recruit a division of these guys.
American military pay and equipment and citizenship when their term (10 years?) is up.
We just need to keep ‘em out of sight of the Lawyers and let ‘em do what they do best...
Now that part, I believe 100%.
If we do, I hope we treat them better than the Brits have treated their retired Ghurkas.
You have just won the perhaps occasionally coveted

In my younger days, participated in the Hong Kong “Trailwalker” which was a 100km team race across the mountains and valleys of Hong Kong’s New Territories.
The Gurkas would always win - with insane times of 11-12 hours.
Of course, not to be outdone, the Chinese PLA garrison now makes sure it can field a team that can win every year as well!
Well, I did say American Pay and American Citizenship.
That ought to be princely by Ghurka standards!
Thank you so much. I am humble by this award.
But then, I have so much to be humble about...
That’s what the Brits promised them also. Now, a lot of retirees are having a hard time staying in the country. I think Kipling said something about govts forgetting about their soldiers, except when they need them.
If true, this guy should team up with this guy.....
“Hideaki Akaiwa, in Miyagi prefecture, has decided not to wait for rescue workers. With a scuba suit on, he waded through flooded streets to rescue his wife, and later his mother. He continues to look for more survivors.”
They would make one bada$$ mofo team......
Well, I’d rather have Ghurkas immigrating here than most other cultures. Tough, brave, loyal. We need more of that.
But, I wonder what their second and third generations would be like? I’d hate to think we ruined a culture by letting them immigrate here...
If you have a choice in a fight, try to find yourself on the same side as the Ghurkas or the Sikhs, IMHO
