There exists in popular music a hierarchy. It’s been created, and is constantly altered, by both natural and artificial means. At the top sits The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, Michael Jackson, U2, and Madonna.

Oddly enough, for most over-rated bands, I would include:

The Beatles,
Michael Jackson,
U2, and
Madonna

I don't really like either Elvis or the Rolling Stones but I'm not sure they're over-rated to the extent that these others are.

The Beatles are hardly overrated. Extremely creative and their songs stand the test of time very well. U2 is a good band too not one of the very best but very good.

I agree with the Beatles. Especially after the first couple albums. They were like 4 Justin Beavers that lasted longer than he will.

U2 had some nice songs - but are way overproduced.

Of the more recent bands I would add Dave Matthews Band and Hootie and the Blowfish. So fake and derivative.

I agree with you. I’ve always hated U2 especially.

Your list and mine are identical, especially with the Beatles being the most overrated band of all time.

Agree with those. The Beatles are the most overrated musical act in history, in my opinion.

Rush is the most underrated.

Interesting side note on Elvis - today is the 50th anniversary of the Elvis benefit concert in Hawaii that made the construction of the USS Arizona Memorial possible. Heard that on Sirius XM Deep Tracks while I was out at lunch.

The Beatles were history , how could you EVER say they are over rated. That’s beyond absurd. Even if you HATED then , they single handedly changed popular music forever . DUMB statement man ..sorry

I happen to like the Beatles, and don't think they were overrated. Anyway, here's favorite Beatles song, The Girl I Love .
