Questions Raised About O'Keefe's Editing Of NPR Sting Video
NPR ^ | March 12, 2011

Posted on 03/13/2011 8:35:06 AM PDT by La Lydia

When conservative political activist James O'Keefe released the 11-minute edited version of his secretly recorded video of then-NPR chief fundraiser Ron Schiller slamming conservatives, O'Keefe also posted what he says is the entire two hours' worth of video his undercover team collected.

"Judge for yourself" whether he produced a fair and balanced 11-minute version, O'Keefe said last Tuesday when his tapes hit the Web.

As NPR's David Folkenflik says on Weekend Edition Sunday, conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck's website The Blaze has done some judging and concluded that O'Keefe did make some misleading edits. The Blaze wrote Thursday that some things O'Keefe did were "editing tactics that seem designed to intentionally lie or mislead about the material being presented." For instance, The Blaze says that in the edited tape "NPR exec Ron Schiller does describe Tea Party members as 'xenophobic ... seriously racist people.' " But, it notes:

"The clip in the edited video implies Schiller is giving simply his own analysis of the Tea Party. He does do that in part, but the raw video reveals that he is largely recounting the views expressed to him by two top Republicans, one a former ambassador, who admitted to him that they voted for Obama.

"At the end, he signals his agreement. The larger context does not excuse his comments, or his judgment in sharing the account, but would a full context edit have been more fair?"...

I’d love to see all the raw footage of the Katie Couric interviews with Sarah Palin.

Typical NPR. They don't watch the two hours of raw footage for themselves, they just go to another website and cut-and-paste what was said there.

How many tax dollars, exactly, is required for that sort of serious in-depth investigative journalism?

I just wonder how come nobody is concerned about editing of interviews by liberal media such as cnnabcnbccbs?

It's a double-standard thing. You wouldn't understand.

These clowns are just upset because he released a little bit at a time, got them to say things that weren’t true and then showed everyone how they were lying. O’Keefe just used the left’s Alinsky tactics against them. Sure, it would have been easier for them to do damage control had he released everything all at once, but then no one would know that they are a bunch of liars and left-wing hacks. They dug their own graves. What a bunch of maroons.

He released the unedited version, too.

NPR/CPB/PBS/state-run media NEVER does that.

And everything they broadcast is deceitfully edited.

O’keefe pointed out to UnReliable Sources that the media edits everything they report. You could sure see the bias in that interview.

I would love to see the entire, unedited two day long interview that Katie Couric did with Sarah Palin, rather than the carefully edited portions that Couric released.

In fact, I have long contended that every conservative submitting to an interview with any of the MSM talking heads should make it a pre-condition that they have the absolute right to copy and publish any portions of the interview that the MSM talking heads leave on the cutting room floor.

1) Why were two NPR execs meeting with sworn enemies of the U.S., Israel and the West, a Muslim Brotherhood front group, in view of accepting a $5 million donation? Why were they doing that in the first place?

(here’s the declared jihad): http://www.memri.org/report/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/4650.htm

2) Why did NPR lie in their first cover story, saying they never were going to accept the check?

3) Why did NPR conspire to conceal this from the public and the government?

4) Why did Ron Schiller launch into an anti-Semitic rant?

5) why did Betsy Liles laugh and say “I like that!” when people she thought were our enemies called NPR “National Palestinian Radio”?

6) Do they think we’re stupid?

Defund. Audit. Investigate. Incarcerate.

Any smart press person always negotiates this ahead of time and demands a raw, unedited tape or video of the interview as a requirement for granting an interview of the politician for whom they work. It is also a good idea to bring a tape recorder and tape the proceedings oneself. In fact, keeping a tape recorder on hand at all times is a good idea, in case the person gets ambushed.

Reputable news organizations also provide the politician with a video or tape of the finished product as it was broadcast. I'll let you guess which ones do that and which ones don't.

NPR’s Ron Schiller: ‘I Have Agreed That My Resignation Is Effective Today’
mediaite.com ^ | 3-8-11 | Matt Schneider
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2685806/posts

The fallout from the undercover video of NPR executives began with NPR’s response and now Mediaite has learned that NPR is soon to release the following statement:

Schiller’s expected response:

“While the meeting I participated in turned out to be a ruse, I made statements during the course of the meeting that are counter to NPR’s values and also not reflective of my own beliefs. I offer my sincere apology to those I offended. I previously resigned from NPR effective May 6th to accept another job. In an effort to put this unfortunate matter behind us, NPR and I have agreed that my resignation is effective today.”

Last Straw For NPR?

Taxes Misspent: It’s bad enough that taxpayers are forced to support a left-wing media outlet long since rendered obsolete by the Internet. Now we learn NPR is seeking booty from terrorist sources.

Where to begin in describing the damning revelations produced by filmmaker James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas in its videotaped undercover sting of National Public Radio officials?

NPR claims innocence, but why was Ron Schiller, until recently the president of the NPR Foundation, so eager to do lunch at Georgetown’s schmancy Cafe Milano with two men posing as high-ranking members of a Muslim Brotherhood front?

The investigative reporters were offering NPR a $5 million donation, and the videotape they made shows Schiller giving them the impression that it would be money well spent.

The whole episode provides plenty of new reasons for taxpayers to demand the end of NPR public funding.

An NPR spokeswoman insists that O’Keefe’s phony Islamists “repeatedly pressed us to accept a $5 million check, with no strings attached, which we repeatedly refused to accept.” Does she expect people to believe that NPR fundraisers spend their working hours meeting with prospective donors for the fun of it?

Juan Williams Responds to NPR Sting: ‘They Prostitute Themselves for Money’ (Defund ‘em)
Fox News ^ | 3/8/2011
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2685694/posts

Former NPR commentator Juan Williams spoke exclusively to FoxNation.com about the NPR sting video, which captured NPR senior executive Ron Schiller in a bigoted and revealing rant about conservatives, Jews and the American taxpayer.

“This was an act of incredible condescension,” said Williams. “The rank hypocrisy of his remarks was telling for me. They will say things to your face about how there’s no liberal orthodoxy at NPR, how they play it straight, but now you see it for what it is. They prostitute themselves for money.”

Williams said Schiller’s remarks about the Jews dominating the newspaper industry was “outright anti-Semitism,” and labeling Tea Party members “gun-toting” “racists” reveals “their real feelings.” This is how they talk in boardrooms and editorial meetings, explained Williams. “This is how they really feel.”

Activist (James O’Keefe) says he targeted NPR because of Juan Williams firing
cnn ^ | 3/8/2011 | Kevin Liptak
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2685777/posts

The conservative activist responsible for producing an undercover video showing a National Public Radio senior executive slamming the Tea Party as “racist” and “scary” is speaking out about why he went after the organization.

And late Tuesday, NPR announced it has placed the executive, Senior Vice President for Fundraising Ron Schiller, on administrative leave.

Filmmaker James O’Keefe said the idea for the sting stemmed from an incident in October when NPR fired analyst Juan Williams after he said he got scared when people wore Muslim garb on airplanes.
