The answer to the above headline is "a whole Congress" (and a senseless president "W"). As Stephen F. Heyward noted the other day, the ban of the incandescent light bulb thanks to the federal mandate of compact fluorescent light (CFL) for all Americans starting in 2012 will be the stupidest "energy conservation" law since Jimmy Carter spearheaded the national 55 mph speed limit.
I'd rather wear a sweater. We can only hope this scheme will be much less short-lived.
Writes Heyward:
Were going to sock it to industry with new air-quality regulations to reduce airborne mercury, but were going to subject everyone to increased mercury risk in their homes by forcing them to use CFL bulbs. Have a look at EPA guidance for disposing CFLs and what to do if one breaks in your house.Well, that's OK, says the left. Snappy technology has fixed that with the LED light. Ummm ... oops!

My mother who is 88 years old was convinced by her super senior friends who all went to see Algore's movie that these crappy light bulbs would save the world. So, she let them send a volunteer over to change a bunch of bulbs around her home.
Two of the 7 bulbs replaced in her porch and garage lights burned out in a matter of weeks. One actually melted and fused itself into the socket. We are lucky it didn't burn down her home.
Anyway, I was discussing this with some folks who mentioned similar happenings and we pondered how to legally get rid of the old bulbs. One guy told me his wife went to Burger King, wrapped the sucker that burned out in their bag and threw it in the trash. She said it was easier that going to the dump and taking the chance on saying something stupid that would cost money or paperwork to get rid of the p.o.s.!
None. Liberals prefer to remain in the dark.
But they will make you screw them in.
Please, don’t mention screw and liberal in the same sentence ;-)
I just bought 75 light bulbs today.
these mercury laden CFL are a fire threat !! They get extremely hot. I had a similar experience with one getting so hot it started melting the socket in the ceiling. Next they will tell us we must rewire our homes in order to use the stupid bulbs, which btw don’t put out as much light in my freezing a— cold house, yet manage to melt sockets. I have pet reptiles that need the warmth the incandescents provide. I am stocking up. When will this insane mirco management of our lives end??

Hey, at least they left Helen Thomas out of it...
oops sorry for double post
How Many Liberals Does it Take to Screw In a Hazardous CFL Lightbulb?

Exactly. Always waiting others to do the work for them while they sit on their a**.

just not sure how they get inside one
I’m staying at the Marriott in San Diego for a conference. They have 42-watt TCP-brand compact fluorescents that are awesome. These are the first CFL lights I have ever seen that actually give enough light to read by. They’re nearly 14 bucks on Amazon, however.

After all they are the superior beings as per their theory/religion of evolution and we are the Neanderthals.
I’m sorry, but I don’t like the light give off by even the best CFLs or LEDs. Give me indandescent or halogen. At least let me have the CHOICE. Let the market decide the rest.
Michelle Bachman has a bill to repeal this eco-stupidity but
we need more support!!
Spread the word!
