How can this happen in 2011? I was just talking with him 3 weeks ago about possibly going bass fishing with him in Mexico this Spring.
Seems he checked into the hospital about a week ago complaining of respiratory troubles after contracting the flu. They released him shortly after. He posted on his Facebook page at that time about how it sucks being sick, and how good it would be just to walk 20 feet without gasping for breath.
2 days later, hie son and ex-wife found him dead in bed.
I am stunned. He was in good health. No one that age is supposed to die of the flu.
I am so sorry for your loss. It hurts so much to lose the people we love, and when it is such a shock too, it just makes it worse. My sincerest condolences.
I have had a very bad flu for the last week myself (despite having received the flu shot) and now I wonder if I was a total fool to try and go it alone. I’m better now, so I guess I skated through. I’m so sorry about your brother.
Yes, my point was that people assume incorrectly that bacterial infection always acompanies the influenza infection and want antibiotics anytime they have a virus. This, according to the experts in infectious disease, is a primary cause of antibiotic resistance and is not in keeping with current medical recommendations.
Way toooooooo young.
Heartfelt condolences to all of you.
I understand your point of anti-biotic resistance but disagree. I’m pretty sure that when I take 7 days of ciprofloxacin I don’t also have a staph infection. I last used cipro two months ago when I was having trouble breathing during a lengthy sickness. My breathing improved within a day and the cipro cleared up the cold/flu soon thereafter. I was able to return to work much sooner. Versus the crapshoot of going to a doctor it was a no-brainer.
I believe mis-diagnosing and stopping prescribed prescriptions prematurely are likely much greater causes of anti-biotic resistance. In any event the traditional path didn’t help this man. I believe having some anti-virals and anti-biotics on hand would have.
I usually don’t have a problem but I caught something that turned into bronchitis..and I felt like was on the way to pneumonia. I was going downhill fast. I didn’t feel all that bad but my chest was coughing up very thick tan mucus and I couldn’t get the coughing under control.
I started bombarding my system with everything. All the homespun remedies.
resveratrol
Thieves Oil that I had made
Nac
Vitamin D , E
Cinnamon
curcumin/bioperine
oscillococcinum ( I had a ton of this because it was a money maker at Walgreens)
egg whites on my feet
vinegar on my feet
and on and on and on
I can’t tell you what worked but it had a dramatic turnaround.
I think I would have ended up in the hospital if I hadn’t started this regimen. I didn’t start it soon enough because I figured since I really don’t have problems my body would fend it off.
Big mistake. It was pretty stupid since I basically have a Walgreens drug store in my house. I wasn’t taking anything.
Next time I will try to take more control of the situaation.
I am still coughing up a bit but it isn’t sticky mucus.
Another reminder to live each day as if it will be your last, as someday that will be exactly the case!
I have found oliveleaf extract to be a godsend for me
